Hallow Thistle and Sky
Sold
Thistle is just one of my most favorite flowers. Mostly because it is beautiful and doesn't need my attention at all.
I intended to type hollow and accidently hit A...and found that to be a better title.
And the sky is just pretty fricken epic. Sorry for the reflection in the picture here. I am a budding painter but dislike photography.

Movement Through Space
Caps one of my best friends from college; thus one of my best friends in life has really encouraged my creativeness by being very interested in my trippier - more abstract works.
To be honest- they are a bit unnerving to paint; because I don't often have a clear goal set - which although I come across as way laid back- just like the rest of y'all uncertainty - especially uncertainly when you are the one in control-
is a feeling I am attempting to get more comfortable with.

Just East of the Real West
So much fun to do these just layers of painting. It takes time- but I put one of these on the side and add to it; as I am doing the colors on other paintings; so this really is me using up - left over paint from 2 or 3 things I had going.

"A Bridge From Nowhere"
The angle of the view is reminiscent of a hike with Bill Koehle and Ry Clark my best boy Montana and a currently borrowed yet to be stolen Alaskan Malamute Chow mix named King Dog in 1997 that ended much better than it should have.
Moral of that story is look at a map before you go; stay on the trail; don't hike up what you can't scamper down- and if you have the capacity to rescue something from a bad situation...you should find a crazy way to do that.
But this is just the angle from the middle of that hike- the colors; rock structure; imagined bridge; intensity of the falls- are all made up shit- that as I type this a year after I made it- I can honestly say it was just the colors I had on hand and the inspiration of the minute. If I did it again today- it would be a different bridge from a different nowhere.

"Quakers"
Winnie's house on Neyland Road in Edinboro is surrounded by quaking aspen trees
The internet tells me" Quaking aspen propagates itself primarily through root sprouts, and extensive clonal colonies are common. Each colony is its own clone, and all trees in the clone have identical characteristics and share a single root structure " Also that the trees aren't really used for much.
That being said- sitting and watching these trees and how they change in the light and with the weather was one of the highlights of the time I spent out on Neyland Road.

"Oh Hail"
Housepaint on glass- with mirrors glued all over the back.
My intent was to make it a bit difficult to take it all in - Kinda like high school- imperfect; fractured; fragmented- but sturdy - solid- and whole at the same time.
My Grandma, mom, myself, both of my siblings, and many of my life long friends graduated from Vincent. It's wasn't and isn't perfect- but nothing is- and I have a fondness for most things about the building and the property.

This little community Gem has always fascinated me-
I've been in twice as a kid- and have met the owners a few times as they are kinda Erie Famous- very kind people!
The shape of the front of the store is Wack and I drew and erased the building four times before I stuck with this rendition.
I can't explain how good it feels to be living back near here. I feel home most everywhere down here.
NFS - gave it to the owners

House paint on glass.
The interesting thing about this piece is that I was painting it as my daughter Aida was driving home from State College.
After she got to my house the following day and I was showing her works I had done since her last visit she told me she just got done writing a screenplay about crows.
I enjoy when the universe is kind like that.
(1 hour of my time frame a buck)
"The Monument"
Sold
A rendition of Perry’s Monument at the mouth of Misery Bay on Presque Isle in Erie, PA.
There has always been something about the peninsula that I have been drawn to. I have been blessed to grow up with this state park so close to me. I have long envisioned myself as Joe Root, or the first inhabitants of the area enjoying the diversity of this beautiful sliver of ground. I also imagine the difficulties soldiers must have experienced in those cold long winters when the young nation was at war.
The area has lore that I can feel in my soul and bones. I can sense where it’s dirt, sand, and water mix with my dirt, sand, and water.
This monument- which I know very little about has always fascinated me and I hope to paint it in many different ways as I hone my skills.

House paint on glass

I got to thinking that lots of artists paint boats on the water. And I like painting sky and water - but I don’t much care about boats…
So I was looking for boats to paint and I thought of the title before I started the painting. Because I think I’m funny.
