Oh, the great clouds of dust that hath gathereth upon thine old charm,
Thine streests alive with men going hither and thither,
I lay mine eyes upon thee, the object of the love of mine heart,
I raise mine voice to Providence, for with thee there was no harm,
As the seasons come and go many arriveth coming hither,
Dearest Jogja, though I grow, mine love for thee shalt never depart.
Tuesday arrived yet again in the bustling city of Jogja. A day not very different from that of the rest of the week. That day, Shadow decided to step away from her usual route. Silence was a peace Shadow rarely found as the endless hum of machinery filled the city even through the night. But as Shadow stepped into the empty overpass connecting the great mall of Plaza Ambarrukmo to the hotel across the road, the dizzying noise subsided. It was there that Shadow's heart ceased to pound, and silence from within slowly came. The cars and vehicles like toys going by below brough a small smile to Shadow's solemn expression as she relaxed.
Not far from the overpass, just below it more or less, a man had only just received a small tip from some customers after helping them park their motorcycle. It wasn't much, but the man was delighted and so he is going back inside the house to store his earning. The people of Jogja such as this man are hard workers who are also friendly. They make the most of what they have. Here the man works in a rather old and worn down building that now functions as an extended parking area for motorcycles to accommodate all those who visit the mall. The streets around Plaza Ambarrukmo mall are always clean-swept and neat, just like the one where the man works.
A few miles away from the overpass and where the man worked, in another part of Jogja a small house is hosting a heartwarming family and friends gathering. The host of the house has been away for two whole years and came back to visit. Her friends were delighted when they knew and decided that they needed come over for a gathering, just like they always did almost every month before the host left. Before the guests arrived the host had done some cooking, making a whole variety of fancy dishes for them to later feast on together.
Even as the people lived, and places are crowded, the animals in Jogja thrive nonetheless, especially the cats. Stray cats can be found in various places in Jogja and many have become the locals' beloved pets that either help them control the number of pest like rats, or simply attract and demand attention and factory proccessed cat food. This calico had just woken up and is now sitting on the roof of a house watching some women argue just across the street. Like many other strays, this calico is chubby because of how well-fed he is. Or is it a she? Who knows. What's important is that cats are a part of living in Jogja. So don't be surprised when one suddenly appears at your legs.
Finally, as the city buzzed with life, in the smaller and quieter streets of the city, children played without care as they chased after one another. It isn't uncommon to find children playing in the smaller streets. Sometimes they can be seen running around in only their underwear, the toddlers that is. However, it's not just toddlers who play around. Grade school kids often play there too, sometimes riding their bicycles while drinking some sodas they bought at a nearby store. Usually when the smaller kids are playing, an adult would be watching. Just to make sure that they don't accidentally cross the road or do anything potentially dangerous.
