If you want a heavy-duty, multi-layer steel sealing solution for high-output LS V8 engines like those in your Chevy Silverado or GMC Sierra, choose KZDAZ Multi-Layer Steel Header; if you need a complete, compact repair kit for massive 8.3L to 8.9L diesel powerplants, choose Dzannc Exhaust Manifold Gasket. This isn't a question of which brand is "better" in a vacuum, because these two products serve entirely different mechanical universes. One is engineered for the high-horsepower street and track performance of GM's LS family, while the other is built specifically to handle the brutal thermal loads of heavy-duty Cummins and ISL diesel applications. I am writing this to help you decide which one belongs in your toolbox before your next major move, especially when that move involves shifting heavy equipment or tackling a demanding installation day where getting the seal wrong means immediate failure.
• KZDAZ Multi-Layer Steel Header: Its greatest strength is the Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) construction designed specifically for high-performance LS engines, offering superior heat resistance and leak prevention compared to standard gaskets. Its trade-off is strict compatibility limits, as it only fits specific GM LS-based engine families and will not work on diesel or non-GM platforms. This pick is for the enthusiast rebuilding a 5.3L, 6.0L, or 6.2L truck engine who needs precision sealing under high stress.
• Dzannc Exhaust Manifold Gasket: Its biggest advantage is the comprehensive nature of the kit, providing a full 19-piece set with matching bolts tailored for large displacement diesel engines like the 8.3L and 8.9L. The trade-off is its highly specialized application, meaning it is useless for any gasoline vehicle or smaller engine block. This pick is for the mechanic or owner maintaining heavy-duty diesel trucks where a complete replacement kit saves time and ensures no missing hardware.
The KZDAZ Multi-Layer Steel Header is an engineering choice that prioritizes durability and thermal management for high-performance gasoline applications. The core of this product lies in its Multi-Layer Steel (MLS) design, which is explicitly refined from multiple layers of steel rather than using single-ply materials. This construction provides enhanced temperature resistance and sealing properties that are critical when dealing with the intense heat cycles of modern V8 engines. By preventing exhaust leakage more effectively than standard gaskets, it helps reduce engine pressure and can contribute to improved fuel efficiency, which matters significantly when you are pushing an engine to its limits during a rebuild or performance upgrade.
This product is designed exclusively for the vast ecosystem of GM LS series engines. If you own a Silverado, Suburban, Yukon, Escalade, or Cadillac CTS equipped with a 4.8L, 5.3L, 5.7L, 6.0L, or 6.2L engine, this is the correct component. It covers almost every variation of the LS platform, including LS1, LS2, LS3, LS6, LM7, LQ4, LQ9, and many others, excluding only the high-strung LS7. The kit includes two MLS exhaust manifold header gaskets and twelve OE-style bolts (Part Number 551696), ensuring you have everything needed to replace the old seals without hunting for specific fasteners. The silver color indicates the material finish, which aligns with the robust nature of the steel layers used inside.

However, you must skip this product if your vehicle does not use a GM LS engine. It is not a universal fit, nor is it compatible with diesel engines, foreign cars, or older small-block Chevys that predate the LS architecture. Furthermore, while the installation process is described as straightforward—requiring only cleaning the mating surface and precise alignment—it demands attention to detail. You cannot force these gaskets; they require the exact torque specifications and surface preparation to function correctly. If you are looking for a cheap, one-size-fits-all fix for a generic leak, this is likely overkill, but if you are building a reliable powerplant for a moving day where your truck needs to haul maximum load without overheating or losing compression, this MLS design is exactly what you need.
The Dzannc Exhaust Manifold Gasket serves a completely different demographic, targeting the rugged world of heavy-duty diesel maintenance. This kit is engineered for the immense thermal and pressure demands of 8.3L and 8.9L diesel engines, including popular models like the 6BT/L, ISL, ISC, QSL, and QSC series. The primary selling point here is completeness. In the world of diesel repair, missing a single bolt or gasket can lead to disastrous leaks that blow out immediately upon startup. Dzannc addresses this by providing a 19-piece package that includes the manifold gaskets and all necessary matching bolts for a full repair cycle. This eliminates the guesswork of trying to source individual parts that might not match the original equipment manufacturer (OE) specifications.
The design focuses on reliability for industrial and heavy-duty applications. The gaskets are made from high-temperature resistant materials intended to withstand the extreme heat generated by large diesel combustion chambers. They act as a direct replacement for OE part numbers 3937479 and 3944593, ensuring that the fitment is precise enough to stop exhaust leaks without requiring custom fabrication or modification.
This product is strictly for owners of heavy-duty diesel trucks. If you drive a gasoline-powered vehicle, even a large one, this kit will not fit. It is also not suitable for the lighter LS engines discussed earlier. The value proposition here is convenience and coverage. When you are dealing with a 6BT or ISL engine, the complexity of the manifold and the sheer number of potential leak points make a full kit essential. If you are preparing for a long haul or a moving day where downtime is not an option, having a complete 19-piece kit ready ensures you can get back on the road quickly. However, if your vehicle uses a different engine configuration, this is the wrong tool for the job, regardless of how durable the gasket material claims to be.
• Best for High-Horsepower LS V8 Engines → KZDAZ Multi-Layer Steel Header (specifically designed for LS1 through LS9 variants).

• Best for Direct OE Replacement (GM LS) → KZDAZ Multi-Layer Steel Header (replaces 12617944 and related GM part numbers).
• Best for Moving Day Reliability → Choose KZDAZ if your truck is a Silverado/Sierra with a V8; choose Dzannc if your rig is a heavy-duty diesel hauling gear.
In my opinion, the choice between these two comes down entirely to the engine under your hood, not the brand reputation. I would buy the KZDAZ Multi-Layer Steel Header if I were working on a 5.3L or 6.0L Chevy truck, because the Multi-Layer Steel construction offers a level of durability and heat management that standard gaskets simply cannot match for daily driving and towing. Conversely, I would grab the Dzannc Exhaust Manifold Gasket if I were servicing a heavy-duty diesel, as the 19-piece kit provides the necessary completeness to avoid delays during a critical repair. Both products solve specific problems with precision, but neither is a universal solution. For a moving day scenario, selecting the correct gasket for your specific engine type is the difference between a smooth transition and a breakdown on the highway.
The KZDAZ kit is designed exclusively for GM LS series gasoline engines ranging from 4.8L to 6.2L, such as those found in Silverados and Sierras. The Dzannc kit is built specifically for heavy-duty diesel engines, including 8.3L and 8.9L variants like the 6BT/L and ISL, and will not fit gasoline vehicles.
Yes, the KZDAZ Multi-Layer Steel Header kit includes two MLS exhaust manifold gaskets and twelve OE-style bolts (Part Number 551696), so you do not need to purchase separate fasteners.
The Dzannc kit contains 19 pieces total, including the manifold gaskets and all matching bolts required for a full repair on 8.3L and 8.9L diesel engines, eliminating the risk of missing hardware during installation.
Both products utilize high-temperature resistant materials. The KZDAZ version uses multi-layer steel to manage heat in high-output gasoline engines, while the Dzannc version uses premium sealing materials designed for the extreme thermal loads of diesel combustion.
