Kyra Rost (she/her) is a second-year Ph.D. Student in the Department of Sociology at The Ohio State University. She received her BS in Sociology from Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas in December 2021. As an undergraduate, Kyra worked on several projects related to inequalities associated with race and media culture. Notably, Kyra conduced a quantitative study surveying college students on their view points of the Black Lives Matter movement. 

Kyra's current research interests broadly include the study of inequalities related to race, pop culture, and the social determinants of health. She is currently working on a project exploring alternative ways to measure and gauge the mental health of Black Americans using Hip-hop lyric analysis. Additionally, Kyra is currently working with the Housing and Health Equity Lab at Yale University, to examine the impact of preventative policies and emergency renal assistance programs on pandemic based evictions. Kyra is Currently advised by Cynthia Colen.
