The Wireless & Intelligent Systems Laboratory (WiSL) is led by Prof. Kyoung-Jae Lee in the School of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Chung-Ang University, Seoul, Korea.
Our research interests include next generation wireless communications, deep learning based communication designs, IoT secure networks, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) communications, wireless powered communications, and power line communications based on communication theory, artificial intelligence, machine learning, information theory, and signal processing. June 2025, Samuel Menanor received KICS Winter Conference Best Paper Award.
The paper titled "Rate Splitting Multiple Access Assisted Cell-Free Massive MIMO ISAC Systems: Analysis in Spatially Correlated Channels with Aging," authored by Samuel Menanor, Felix Odoom, Reynah Akwafo, Derek Kwaku Pobi Asiedu, and Kyoung-Jae Lee, has been awarded the Best Paper Award at the KICS Winter Conference. Congratulations on this achievement!
Jan. 2025, Dr. Derek Kwaku Pobi Asiedu appointed as Associate Professor at IMT Atlantique.
We are delighted to announce that Dr. Derek Asiedu, a doctoral graduate of WiSL, has been appointed as an Associate Professor at IMT Atlantique. Nov. 2024, Yakubu Bunyaminu received KICS Summer Conference Best Paper Award.
The paper titled "Rate Analysis of Local Protective Partial Zero Forcing for Full-Duplex Cell-Free Massive MIMO with Low-Resolution ADCs," authored by Yakubu Bunyaminu, Felix Odoom, Prince Anokye, and Kyoung-Jae Lee, has been awarded the Best Paper Award in the English paper category at the KICS Summer Conference. Congratulations on this achievement!
Sept. 2024, Jonathan Agyapong's paper, accepted in IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications (TWC).
Congratulations to Jonathan on the acceptance of his paper, "Rate-Splitting Multiple Access Over Cell-Free Massive MIMO With Low-Resolution ADCs," for publication in IEEE TWC, which is a leading journal in the field, with an Impact Factor of 8.9 and ranking in the top 3.6% in the JCR list. WiSL has secured a new grant from the Korean government for a project titled "Distributed Cooperative Integration of Sensing and Communication Systems for Cooperative Autonomous Driving". This three-year project will focus on advancing key technologies for 6G wireless communications.

Sept. 2020, Dr. Prince Anokye won the Korea Research Fellowship (KRF) grant.
Dr. Anokye will be supported from the National Research Foundation (NRF) for 4 years, and he will focus on "Full-duplex massive MIMO based V2X wireless communication networks for massive connected future vehicles".
Sept. 2020, Our department won the BK21 FOUR (Brain Korea 21 Fostering Outstanding Universities for Research) grant!
This 7 year project "Convergence technology research group for futuristic intelligent eco-vehicles" is for supporting graduate students, and we will study on V2X communication systems in this project.

Prince Anokye's FD massive MIMO paper "Low-Resolution ADC Quantized Full-Duplex Massive MIMO-Enabled Wireless Backhaul in Heterogeneous Networks Over Rician Channels" has been accepted for publication in IEEE TWC, which is one of the top journals in wireless communications areas with the Impact Factor of 6.394 in 2018.

Feb. 2020, Prof. Lee has a sabbatical year as a Visiting Professor in University of Southern California, CA, USA
He is collaborating with Prof. Andreas Molisch, Wireless Devices and Systems Group (WiDeS), on V2X, massive MIMO and machine learning. This cooperative research is supported by the National Research Foundation (NRF).

May 2019, Prof. Lee, appointed as an Editor of IEEE/KICS Journal of Communications and Networks (JCN).
JCN is a Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE, Web of Science) indexed journal with Impact Factor 1.632, which is issued by the Korean Institute of Communications and Information Sciences (KICS) and technically co-sponsored by the IEEE Communications Society.
Jan. 2019, Prof. Lee serves as a Guest Editor of MDPI Energies Special Issue on "Future Wireless Power Transfer and Communications".
MDPI Energies has the impact factor of 2.707, indexed by the Science Citation Index Expanded (SCIE, Web of Science). The submission due of the special issue is December 15, 2019.
Nov. 2018, Prof. Lee received a research award from Korea Electric Power Research Institute (KEPRI).
He received this award on the contribution of a research on "Reliable and secure power line communications based on multi-relay multi-user MIMO for smart grid".

We won the research fund supported by the KEPCO for a study on "Reliable and secure power line communications based on multi-relay multi-user MIMO for smart grid" for 3 years.
