Kyle Salois - Math

I'm a fifth-year graduate student at Colorado State University working on my PhD in mathematics with my advisor, Maria Gillespie. My research usually falls under the umbrella of combinatorics, and looks at symmetric function theory, graph theory, and connections to other areas of math, including representation theory and algebraic geometry. I completed my Bachelor of Arts in mathematics at Willamette University.

My current research is looking at ways to draw new connections between the combinatorics of chromatic symmetric functions and the cohomology rings of Hessenberg varieties.

While at CSU, I have also completed a Master's degree, in which I examined the problem of when two Schur-Q functions for different shifted skew partitions are equal or distinct, culminating in a conjecture about an infinite family of pairwise-distinct functions.

Outside of math, I have a few hobbies - I sang in collegiate a cappella groups for 8 years, I have a terminal board game addiction, and I love spending time out in the beautiful wilderness of Colorado!
