My primary goals for teaching philosophy are twofold: first, to effectively communicate and distill philosophical ideas so that students may see the import and relevance of philosophy to their lives; and, second, to cultivate students’ intellectual virtues, especially as applied to their engagement with questions that matter to them. These goals are driven by my enthusiasm for philosophy generally, as I see philosophy as a joint enterprise in loving wisdom. Accordingly, my philosophical concerns are intimately related to my regard for my students’ learning.
I have a wide range of teaching interests. I have been the instructor of record for the following courses (all syllabi available upon request):
Introduction to Philosophy
Introduction to Ethics
Introduction to Epistemology
Biomedical Ethics
Business Ethics
I am also enthusiastic about expanding my teaching experience—I have teaching interests in philosophy of religion, existentialism, and metaphysics, among others.
