Keynote Address: Michael Flierl
Michael Flierl is an Associate Professor and Student Learning Librarian at The Ohio State University—his current research focuses on the intersection of artificial intelligence, information literacy, and higher education. Michael has consulted for DARPA on AI applications in multilateral negotiations and deception and is a co-founder of the AI Edtech startup, Lyceum AI.
He frequently presents on dual-use foundational models to diverse audiences, including the Ohio Colleges of Medicine Government Resource Center, the Network of the National Library of Medicine, and the Center for Ethics and Human Values at Ohio State. In collaboration with colleagues from Carnegie Mellon University and Ohio State’s Mortiz College of Law, Michael created an international AI Community of Practice (AI COP) that has which has grown to over 1,000 members fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange in AI. Michael is currently a Fellow at the Institute for Information Literacy at Purdue.
