Best of the Best A&S Competition
We are very excited to announce this year's Known World War Arts and Sciences Competition. Show us your A&S chops for a chance to win the coveted Best of the Best title!
Best of the Best will be held at the main hall on Saturday, May 24th, 2025. Registration begins at 1 pm, and items must be picked up by 4 pm.

An Important note for reading through the ruleset:
Entrants may submit anything NOT previously entered into an inter-kingdom event.. (You may enter previously awarded items, however, these entries will need to be marked as such..)
Please use good judgment and enter finished, refurbished, or revised items from the last year or two.
Illegal entries (per the ROP), such as equipment construction, will be disqualified and will not receive a score.
Entrants are expected to note or cite purchased or borrowed art and patterns, inspiration that could be easily mistaken for another artist’s work, etc. Please do not attempt to plagiarize. Those caught plagiarizing, using another's art/design, etc, will be disqualified from the competition.
Rule Set
- Each contestant may enter a maximum of one entry.
- Long-form written entries are due electronically by May 10th, 2025. A written copy must be physically present at the time of judging.
- Entries will be scored based on the following criteria, as seen below. The highest modified score item will be awarded Best of the Best. Additionally, we will be awarding a Judge's Choice as well.
Scoring
- Entries will be judged on a 0-50 point score basis using the rubric outlined below.
- All scores will be tallied and divided by the number of judges to find the entries' modified score. (Number of judges is subject to change).

Feast-o-crating for beginners: Have you ever thought about running a feast but not sure where to start? Let me teach you how to plan with precision so you can execute with confidence. We will cover planning in a variety of site scenarios, sourcing supplies and equipment, and writing successful feast bids. Come join us!
Open lecture for those interested in learning about the advantages to physical immersion at events, and methodologies on how to do so. Great for anyone who wants to learn realistic ways to bring parts of an imaginary world to life.

Silencing Your Inner Critic: Hate your own work? Disappointed in how your projects turn out? Do you only see the flaws no matter how good anyone else says your art is? This is the class for you. Learn how to love your art and shut down that inner critic.
DIY Using a shaped wire wreath frame to craft and adorn a crescent moon wreath together to take home and enjoy.
In this class we will cover basic balloon twisting supplies, techniques, and safety. Lord Leodan will walk participants through making some of the most common and beloved balloon animals and designs. Should there be time, more complex patterns may also be taught.
Knitting for beginners: The oldest example of knitting we have dates from 11th century Egypt, but possibly with a history that is much longer, given the level of detail in the find and the delicate nature of textiles. The basics of knitting will start you on the road to creating your own soft, stretchy, and comfortable garb.
Please join me in learning where to start with learning embroidery. This class includes materials and is open to everyone at no cost. You'll learn about how to set up your hoop, different types of stitches and fun ways to embroider that aren't your everyday embroidery.
