STRATEGIC DIRECTIONS
KNYP+ amplifies the voices and rights of young people living with HIV in Kwale County through community education campaigns, stakeholder engagement with county health leadership and policymakers, and advocacy for integration of mental health services into HIV care. We work with the County AIDS and STI Control Coordinator and participate in policy dialogues to ensure the needs of HIV-positive youth inform county health programming and violence prevention strategies.

We promote evidence-based programming through systematic documentation of our interventions, including assessments using standardized tools (Child PTSD Symptom Scale, PHQ-A, treatment adherence measures). Our art therapy program includes rigorous M&E with quantitative outcome measurement and qualitative case studies to generate evidence on effective mental health interventions for HIV-affected youth. We develop case studies and program data to contribute to learning in the HIV and mental health fields.ย
KNYP+ builds organizational capacity within our network through training peer counselors and community volunteers in psychosocial support, HIV counseling, and trauma-informed care. We provide ongoing supervision, mentorship, and skills development for young people living with HIV to become effective peer facilitators and leaders. We strengthen community systems by partnering with health facilities, schools, and local leaders to create comprehensive support networks. Our work includes establishing sustainable support infrastructure (peer support groups, counseling services, proposed art therapy centers) and building leadership pipelines among HIV-positive youth.ย
