Laboratory for Receptor and Cell Signaling Engineering
Welcome to the Kwak Lab at Yonsei University!
We are part of Advanced Science Institute and Institute for Basic Science (IBS) Center for Nanomedicine.
In Kwak lab, we harness the tools of synthetic biology and nanotechnology to investigate the mechanism underlying receptor-mediated cell signaling and to develop novel approaches for rewiring cell signaling to modulate cellular responses and functions. The primary research focus includes (1) nanotechnology for receptor and cell signaling, (2) membrane biophysics and mechanobiology, and (3) magnetogenetics for neuroscience and immunology.
We are interested in understanding how cells sense and process environmental stimuli such as biochemical and mechanical cues to differentially modulate downstream signal transduction. By unraveling these complex mechanisms, we aim to establish new design principles for engineering cell signaling to modulate cell functions, which could pave the way for future cell-based therapies.
