MALIAMPURACKAL HOUSE
Maliampurackal Family is a prominent ancient Suriyani (Syrian) Christian tharavadu of Pulincunnu in Alleppey District, Kerala State, India. Tharavadu is a system of joint family practiced by people in Kerala and each Tharavadu has a unique name. This family is one of the branches of the "Chothirakkunnel" family (Mahakudumbam). According to known history, in early 16th century Chembakasseri lords brought his own loyal people from Tharakan family to Pulincunnu as representatives of the king for the maintenance of law and order as also tax collection. Kizhakkethalakkal (later known as Maliampurackal) was one of those family has its ancestors from Chothirakkunnel family Thottakadu.
Generations passed peacefully for almost a century. Maliampurackal Kudumbam members were, by and large, peace-loving, God-fearing, and hard-working. Agriculture was their mainstay.
The Family Today
With the onset of modern education, the Maliampurackal family members are weaning away from agriculture as the mainstay, making forays into other zones like, priesthood, law and justice, medicine, engineering, IT, estates, banking, defence, government employment, and even politics. We are proud of the fact that our family has given rise to film producers, directors, celebrities and countless other professionals. The first theme park in India (kishkinda) by Maliampurackal Chacko Punnoose known as Navodaya Appachen, the first 3D movie in India (My dear kuttichathen) by Jijo Punnoose Malaimpurackal, the first CinemaScope film produced in Malayalam (Thacholi Ambuthe), the first 70mm Indian movie, the first studio in kerala (Udaya Studio) by Kunchacko etc. were some of our family members achievements. The sons and daughters of Maliampurackal Kudumbam are now gainfully employed in various towns of India, in the Gulf, Europe, America, Canada, Africa and all over the world. With the abundant grace of our Lord, today the Maliampurackal family is on the safe path of solid progress, as in the golden days of our great forefather, Kunchako Tharakan.
