My team and I invented a fake company in grade 7 for a robotics competition. The name of our company was Simple Prosthetics. We decided to use robotics to make affordable, functional and durable prosthetic hands. Most prosthetic hands would cost around $15,000. However, the estimated price for our product would have been $2,000. The cost to manufacture the hand was only $500; this means we would get $1,500 of profit for every hand sold. This is an excellent example of my skills. This demonstrates my creative, problem-solving, thinking, robotics and coding skills. In 2016 my team and I finished third nationally in the J4 World Robot Olympiad competition. We worked extremely hard on designing the robot so it can effectively accomplish its task. We made it short and sturdy so it can be better at collecting and pushing the blocks (shown in the picture on the left). This is an excellent example of my creative and robotics skills.
In grade 9 we were tasked to write a 10 page report planning a trip to another planet. I chose to plan a trip to Mars. We had to connect this report to every strand of science taught in the course (ecology, chemistry, electricity and astrology). Through this well-written report I was able to explore the various strands of science to help me decide what university program I wish to enter. In this report I discuss in detail how the different aspect of science relate to this trip, and it is an excellent example of my academic capabilities. It demonstrates my problem-solving and creative skills. It also demonstrates my knowledge of science.
