Manhwa adaptation. In this world, fame from the VR MMO carries over into the real world, and top players are rich and famous. A regular guy has been trying to use the game as a way to get ahead, but hes had no luck. Until when suddenly during a dangerous quest hes left with no choice but to read a class change book that happens to be legendary. Sounds good but it resets him back to level 1.... The art is nothing special, animation is by j.c. staff so its fine but not their A game either. Music might as well not be there, and the plot is pretty straight forwards. However, I am pretty intrigued by the ramifications of his level getting set to -3, and am looking forwards to how it effects things going forwards. 6/10.
FX or forex as they call it in the anime refers to foreign exchange of currencies. Its not really investing, pretty much just gambling that changing exchange rates between currencies will net you a lot of money in the short term. After her mother lost it all, Kurumi-chan decides as an adult to win back the money. The anime has a super cute art style, and the voice acting is great too. It does well to outline the dangers of its contents, while also delivering an informative and fun experience. I think this one will be a good watch. 7/10.
Born into a family of knights, she sets out to take her coming of age ceremony to defeat a monster and bring back its magic stone. Along the way she remembers that in her past life she was a great saint, killed by the demon lord. As she was dying he told her that if she ever reincarnated as a saint again she would meet the same fate. Reminded of who she is, she decides to keep it secret. This is a pretty generic anime by all metrics, the saint plot, the animation, the art, everything really. One thing I did enjoy what for flashback scenes the aspect ratio shifted along with the art to look more old which I thought was a nice touch. This type of thing is up my ally though, so It gets some points. 6/10.
This is the anime where a short promo OVA went omega viral a while ago, and now the real thing is finally out. Its an absurd 4-kouma gag manga following a messed up group of student council members. The art style is eye catching and unique, and the animation is too. As with all comedy anime you will either love it or hate it depending on if you individually find it funny, since all humour is subjective. As an adapted 4-kouma the pacing and episode structure might also be a bit strange for some, but I really enjoy it. Truly an anime for otaku, 7/10.
Witches cannot tell a lie, and thus tend to live apart from humanity. When people visit its usually in secret to request the witches remedies. Our young witch fell in love at first sight with a knight captain when she went to the town as a child, and today he turned up at her home to request a love potion. Unwilling to let her one sided love go out, she tries to put off making him the potion as long as possible in order to keep him visiting. The animation and art is quite pretty, but the true star of the show was the sound design. The environmental sound effects were lovely. Like water splashing or a crows caws in the distance. The plot is super cute, I love this. 8/10.
This anime has been very hyped up, both the light novel and manga have great reviews. A young noble lady was dying, and her parents asked the realm for help. A shady man wanting to get paid, dragged a new soul into her now lifeless body to pass off as the same girl. That soul just happened to be an invincible warrior who wished to find someone that could kill them in combat. In her new body she resolves to live Nia's life to the fullest. The animation is great, and the story interesting. There is a good balance between comedic elements, action, and slice of life. The anime is scheduled for 25 episodes which is a great sign to let it fully develop. I think this might be an early standout for potential best of the season. 8/10.
Remake of an anime from 1994. Three girls on a school trip get summoned as magic knights to save another world. In order to return home they need to save the princess. This is some old school isekai. I have not double checked if they share the same original illustrator or if its just the animation studio, but the art and animation really reminds me of the Ranma 1/2 remake which I was not a fan of. The boon of this being a show from the 90's is some characters have cool designs at-least. The whole first episode was super slow and all lore dumping exposition. Apparently the ending song used is the same as the original which is a neat touch, but I did not enjoy my time with this one. 5/10.
The latest anime entry in the Toaru franchise, at last A Certain Dark Side Item is out! The first episode is largely anime original, but delivered an amazing dose of exposition to catch people up on the world of Toaru. I'm very glad as this anime now works as a great entry point to the series for new comers. In this anime we follow the dark side group known as ITEM, who work in the shadow of academy city carrying out missions from the higher ups. Despite essentially being hitmen, the girls have an interesting group dynamic, and strong esper powers, which are a highlight of the series. The power system in this series is one of the best, so look forwards to it! The animation was lovely, and everything else about as you'd expect from a toaru anime. Super looking forwards to watching this every week 8/10.
Set in an ancient japan, a beautiful noble lady is doomed to live a short life due to a weak heart. Her father is her one supporter, who wishes for her to get married to a nice man that supports her and makes her happy. To give back to her father she also wishes for this, but due to her condition most suitors are turned away. One day when out in the market she is kidnapped... but manages to barely escape by buying the loyalty of one of the group with a marriage proposal. The art in this is absolutely gorgeous. There is a lot of blood and the topics quite gritty, which along with some of the traditional marriage elements core to the plot might turn some away. I was glued to the screen and took a lot of screenshots. I cannot wait for this to develop as an interesting set up for a romance story. A final note is that the highlights from his dark hair and blood stained face, beautifully complimented her ghostly white complexion. 8/10.
A class of students die and reincarnate in another world. They of course get over powered stats and cheat skills. Except for out protagonist who got nothing of note. Having to set out pretty much on his own a no name goddess with no followers begs to have him become her first believer. Everything is pretty average, and the intro plot is painfully repetitive even among a genre that's already repetitive. There is some quite ugly cgi goblins too which don't help. The protagonist is a rpg player aiming to full clear the world without any cheat skills of note so it might be a bit fun? 5/10.
