non sequels kinda sucked this season.... this was hard to chose.
At the age of ten kids are blessed by the goddess and receive a class. Our protagonist is the sole exception, classless. He doesn't really mind since he can apply himself and learn sword skills through effort anyways. The dialog was very plain, and the voice acting did not offer much salvation. The animation is passable but its done by studio A-CAT which has a bad track record so I don't see it improving. The uninspired kind of slop. 3/10.
The Blood Mad Duke and the Voracious Villainess. Two freaks that everyone is afraid of, he loves killing monsters, she likes eating them. A match made in heaven. A unique but fun mix of gourmet, romance, and comedy. The art style is very pretty and the animation compliments it well. The voice actors do a great job. The only thing to warry of is if the gimmick will stay fresh enough to fill 12 episodes. 7/10.
Suicidal and otherwise plain girl discovers she is apparently very delicious to the supernatural when she gets ambushed on her way home from school. Luckily a beautiful mermaid swoops in to protect her from other creatures; only until she decides to eat her herself that is. This is an odd one for sure, and carries forwards a lot of problems I have with common yuri/girls love anime. Plot aside, the animation is passable while the art itself is lovely to look at. They use the medium well to visually represent the emotional themes in a creative way. 6/10.
The ace of the publicity department is assigned to mentor the new recruit. On the surface she's the modal boss, but in reality she sucks at communicating and freaks out internally over the smallest social interactions. I had high hopes for this one based on the synopsis since adult workplace romance is always a treat, but it let me down. Her inner monologue can get a bit annoying, and the art/animation feels a bit crunchy. Plot can do a lot of heavy lifting but it hurts when the characters aren't the most likeable. 4/10.
This show was up there for popularity this season, done studio Science Saru I had decent expectations. In a Japan without seasons, a girl disappeared. In order to find her, her friend hunts down a classmate that's a descendent of santa clause to help her. This is a shounen, action, mystery show. The art style was very off putting in the beginning, but over the run it grows on you and gives the story a unique charm. The concept is very fun so it has potential. Santa deniers be like must have been the wind. 6/10.
After putting up with her terrible fiancée, the prince, for many years she finally reaches her breaking point. He accuses her of being a villainess and tormenting his new fiancée during their time at school. Filled with pent up rage she throws hands and beats everyone up, becoming the villainess she was meant to be. The venom contained in the dialogue of this show was very fun, and the tags have it set up to be an action rom-com which is fun. The animation is nothing special but fits well for the action sequences. The ost is also quite nice. 5/10.
Exactly what it says on the tin. In a world with nine races, he's the weakest one, a human. His gift lets him roll the gacha unlimited times and receive cards, usually giving him an apple or a fork. He's invited to a multiracial party that bring him to the depths of a dungeon before attempting to kill him. About to die he rolls an ssr. This is one hundred percent slop content, but I like it a lot. The animation is surprisingly great. Getting revenge from the bottom of a dungeon is just such a fun trope. 7/10.
The opening for this anime has like a million references, its lowkey peak. A student all about efficiency and preparing for his future finds himself surrounded by frustrating girls. It just doesn't make sense for them to mess with you if they actually like you after all. Animation is nothing special, the plot is slop, and the girls can be actually frustrating. That said it makes good use of tropes and as a slice of life comedy could have legs. 6/10.
The anime opens with an incredible fight scene, I've never seen anything from this studio before but the art style used is classic and clean. In a Gameworld a man was the number one player. His character conquered the world and held and event for other players to defeat him. Upon defeat he received a prompt on his home screen which he accepted. He awakens with his personality fused to his game characters, inside the world of the game 200 years after his death. It's similar in concept to overlord. Very fun and well done. 7/10.
She has a permeant poker face, and he wears his heart on his sleeve. He tries to get he to change expression, but she reads him and avoids it. This is just a school slice of life. The art is cute though so that's something. 5/10.
Commoner learns magic from a court mage that got banished. He becomes a court mage and gets banished. Classic trope of the party members thinking the support mage is useless. The anime has poor pacing and lackluster everything else. Even the title of the magical aiming to become the strongest is a lie. Very uninspired, not even any action scenes to save it. 4/10.
A rich guy with trust issues requests a robot maid to protect and keep him company. Of course no such thing exists, so instead they trick him and hire a kuudere maid to pretend to be a robot. The general animation and plot is fine, although its not that funny or exciting. The main stain on this anime is that there are 5 stills generated by AI. This anime is a joint project by two studios so I have no idea why they would even consider doing that, but they did. 4/10.
A whole class is transported to another world and given classes. The hero should have the highest stats, but somehow our protagonist was an assassin with even higher stats and maxed skills. Suspicious of the king and circumstances he uses presence concealment to observe and learn more about their situation. The animation is quite nice which is great for an action anime, its done by studio sunrise who've worked on projects like code geas in the past so I don't expect the quality to fall off a cliff. Apparently the light novel plot is good so if it sticks to that this should be solid. One of the most anticipated anime of the season. 7/10.
Bored office worker is suddenly transported to another world. He gets given gifts from the friendly god he meets along the way, and lives his life with cheat magic gathering and selling materials. That's it. Guy bored with life enjoying breaking his old routine. The animation is fine, premise is whatever. Another slice of life isekai. He's also just really tall. 4/10.
When she was younger a girl spent all her time writing self insert fantasy to prepare herself for when she got send to another world. Many years later as a grown up whose moved past it all, she wakes up in the world she wrote about. The only thing is instead of being her self insert main character, she was the evil sister that gets assassinated.... She has to try and recall the world she wrote about to save herself and survive in her new life. The animation is very plain, and has a bit of a nostalgic feel to it. It might put some off but I personally found it charming. The writing and actual ost are nothing special, but the main voice actress does a stellar performance to sell the whole thing. Its funny, and nothing you haven't seen before, but still enjoyable. 6/10.
A slice of life comedy anime. Outwardly everything thinks the vampire girl is smart, cute, and cool. Her secret is she sucks at sucking blood, and so is always hungry. An background character notices one day and becomes her practice partner. This anime is great. The overall production is right where it needs to be. The voice acting is top notch, and there's lots of visual gags. Lots of cuteness in a fun package. 7/10.
A romance drama series about a girl meeting a beastfolk for the first time at school. As a result of experiments in the past there are 3000 beastfolk quarantined in a zone. Recently some of them have been given special permission to head into the human world where they are met with discrimination. The animation and art style are sharp and give it a unique look. This is obviously furry so that will turn a lot of people off. I like the character designs and will be interested how the story develops. 6/10.
