School class gets summoned, the loner is the last to go. The skills were first come first serve and all that was left was garbage, so he got them all. Apparently the webnovel is good, so depending on what's cut, and what works in anime form, i have decent expectations for this. Animation was fine, the music nothing notable. 6/10
This is another horror manga by Junji Ito adapted into anime. It's that one people rave about involving spirals. Its only set to air for four episodes, and has the unique quirk of being coloured in grayscale. The animation uses a bit of 3D but its hidden well by the stylistic choices to still look nice. I couldn't stop myself from thinking how silly the story of this would be if you swapped spirals with any other shape lol. 7/10.
The title sounds edgy, but this is an anime about a guild leader who wants to retire. Powerful treasure hunters look up to him as their leader, but he wants nothing to do with it and pushes his responsibilities onto them. The animation is nice and clean, and it has some good humor. I tend to like these types of shows so it seems promising. 6/10.
The grandson of the strongest hero Overdeath, aims to become the most legendary seeker. The issue is instead of being a warrior class, he is a talker (a support class). The animation is nothing special. The character designs are interesting, especially the mc who is a boy that looks sorta girlish? I enjoyed the combat since it reminded me of something like Log Horizon, where the mc is a tactician instead of on the front lines. 6/10.
A non believer is living at a shrine alongside three shrine maiden sisters. After he gets there he learns the reason he was invited by their grandfather in the first place was to marry one of the sisters and take over the shrine. Its a comedy harem romance story so don't expect too much, but the animation was nice, and it used some decent tropes. Airing for 24 episodes you can expect a decent amount of development. 6/10.
A TV adaptation of an ONA from 2018, that spawned from a kickstarter in 2016. Sentient Mecha arms fuse with humans, these are called the Mecha-ude. Two rival organizations are fighting for the special trigger arm, when it falls into the hand of a civilian school boy. The fight scene animation looks great but it seems low fps? The music is awesome, turns out its by Sawano. The general art style is unique and sorta similar to like a kill la kill, but with a touch of 3D. I thought the direction was a bit lacking, but it has promise. 5/10.
The first season aired in 2019 and was the most 5/10 thing I'd ever seen so I'm unsure how this season came to be.... That aside, this seems to be rewriting the beginning and then continuing on from where the first season left off? Animation is way worse, and voice acting is way worse. 3/10.
A classic villainess anime following the formula to a tee. Girl reincarnates into an otome game as the villainess, and tries to be the best villainess she can be. I'm not usually one to complain but everything went so according to the script that it was hard to be entertained. Animation was also below average and had no chance of saving it. 4/10.
A guy and a girl both work for a travel company that's opening a new office in Alaska. In a years time one of the employees will be forced to move there and run the branch, but married people are exempt. The two don't know each other very well, but decide to fake being married until someone else is chosen to go. It's adult romance which is a rarity, and the woman is voiced by Saori Hayami (bonus points). Despite all this its nothing too exciting. 6/10.
Holy peak. A synopsis does this story zero justice. A nerdy boy and a badass chick go out to search for ghosts and aliens.... and then they find them. This is a shounen jump series so you know it's going to be huge, plus Creepy Nuts sings its opening. The voice acting quality blew me away, but what stole the show was how Dandadan uses the medium of animation to its fullest. Truly an experience you need to see to understand. 9/10.
A guy is at the lowest of the low, and to make matters worse, he finds out that due to an illness he only has two years left to live. Running from debt collectors he falls into the ocean, and is rescued by a group of friends out fishing that invite him to join them. It's by studio nut so it has some nice shots, but the fish are cgi. It's a slice of life show but features an all adult cast. I had high hopes for this one initially but it fell a bit short for me. 6/10.
A powerful dragon is slain, and reincarnates as a human. He loves his family and lives in a small village. It's a bit refreshing since there's no RPG stat windows, and hes not a whiny mc. He doesn't even really use his old dragon powers. As a bonus theres a cute Lamia which are pretty rare to see. Average animation and design. 5/10.
In this world there's magical girl companies just like any other business. A new grad is having trouble finding a job when a monster appears mid interview and they have to call a magical girl to exterminate it. Animation is generally good, but some of the monsters are noticeably cgi. I was not expecting to like this as much as I did. The characters and parody of the typical magical girl genre was nice, and I liked how the magical girls wore uniforms instead of the typical dress. If it was fully 2D it would be higher, but it was still quite good. 6/10.
A little girl loved magic, and after meeting a magician when she was young, promised she'd be one when she grew up. She studied to get into magic school, but only ended up being admitted to the general program. But by some turn of fate, a mage ended up being her classes teacher. This show will be divisive, you either love or hate the artstyle. J.C. Staff did an incredible job making it look right out of a storybook, but it's definitely not for everyone. Personally I loved it. The music is wonderful and the characters colourful. Expect a relaxing story. 7/10.
A maid who was a former assassin turns up at a teenagers house and asks to be hired. That's it- that's the plot. I saw a decent amount of hype for this leading up to the release, so I was expecting a bit more. The entire reason to watch this show is for the cute maid experiencing normal things for the first time. Usually that's a decent sell on its own, but the animation is quite poor outside of a few select scenes. Disappointed. 5/10.
A healer was banished from his party, and blacklisted from new ones for being incompetent. He saved a girl when he was younger, who decided she would grow up to be an adventurer to protect him. She finally sought him out and offered to form a party, but he doesn't seem to remember her. The plot is very basic, but the animation is fluid, and the monsters aren't cgi. I actually think it looks great but the simplicity of its premise holds it back. It seems like it could have a romance sub plot though which would definitely help out. 5/10.
A remake of the original Ranma ½ from 1989, animated by MAPPA. Apparently most of the original voice actors are back too. Ranma is coming over from china to be the fiancé of one of three daughters. Their marriage will secure the future of the martial arts dojo. When he was in china training with this father, they fell into magic pools that transformed them. His father into a panda, and Ranma into a girl. They switch between forms when they come into contact with warm or cold water. Its decently funny as a premise, and the animation is really well done. I'm worried it could end up like Urusei Yatsura (written by the same person) and get boring quick. 7/10.
Animated by madhouse, one of my most anticipated anime of the season. A historical seinen drama set around 15th century Europe. The main topic is the conflict between science and religions conflicting truths of the world, with a focus on the stars. A heretic meets an intelligent young man, and they conduct the dangerous research. Set to air for 25 episodes it's going to be a banger. Some additional interesting info I found, apparently the title can be read as "Blood -on the movement of the earth" instead of "Orb". Which seems to be fitting for the story that unfolds. I would rate it higher but that depends on the ending. 8/10.
A man got lucky, met the love of his live and they had a daughter. But his wife suddenly passed away. Ten years later the family was broken, still hung up on her death, until it was discovered she reincarnated and was now an elementary schooler. Being honest the whole reason I'm watching this is because I thought there would be funny twitter drama. Instead its looking like an incredibly sad and emotional experience of learning how to deal with the passing of a loved one. The animation is not great, the voice acting is average, but the story is what counts. 7/10.
The only thing shes ever shown interest in is the magical girl protecting her town. The evil mastermind asks her for help planning his schemes, and she admits she likes the magical girl better when she struggles. Seems very much like a watered down, safe for work, totally average version of gushing over magical girls. Nothing really hooked me, and there's nothing special here. 5/10.
A poor girl is sold by her friends into slavery. She ends up falling into the hands of the prince, and being used as a substitute for the priestess who died. It's a fantasy josei romance story so expect those kinds of vibes. I heard the source is really good, so il give it some leniency. The plot reminds me of a book I liked a long time ago called the false prince. 6/10.
A seinen romantic yakuza drama. Granddaughter from the Osaka group moves to Tokyo for a year to see if she agrees to the arranged marriage to the grandson of the Tokyo group. Show features an art style that leans retro, and includes violence. Not for everyone but I found it compelling. All the characters seem insane, so its far from your average romance. 7/10.
The world was consumed by a war between magic wielding mortals, and immortals demons. It all ended when the demon lord was vanquished. 500 years into the future one of his remaining followers resurrects him, and he's met with a strange reality. The planet had fused with earth, and as a result magic and technology combined. In this new world his powers remained, but no longer commanded the respect they once did. It's animated by J.C. Staff and looks decent, but not amazing. The story is what sets it apart. The demon lord actually still acts like a demon lord upon his resurrection. I was also surprised to see Hololive's Towa make a cameo as an advertisement in the background. I like Towa, but I'm undecided if references like that will ultimately be a positive or negative for this series. 6/10.
Jill was a warrior princes who got executed due to her fiancées betrayal. Unsatisfied as she dies, she wakes up back in time right before he proposed. Hoping to evade her horrible fate, she runs up to a random man at the ball and professes her love. It just so happens that man was the foreign emperor who invades her kingdom in the future. This is a shoujo anime done by J.C. Staff. They do a great job and give the art a nice style. Characters so far seem to act exactly how you'd expect from a shoujo, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. Truly an "I can fix him" anime, it has potential. 6/10.
A sequel of an isekai that aired three years ago. Nothing really special about it, but I did like the first season quite a bit. I don't remember much of what actually happened, and this seems to resume right where events left off. Not expecting great things, but thats fine. 5/10.
Great animation, stellar fights, and a gamer who actually acts like a gamer. One of the best gaming anime to release is back for its second season. It picks off exactly where it left off, after a very brief recap, and continues doing what it does best. Not much to add onto this one, basically a cour two. Just like the first season its set to air for 25 episodes, so it should have plenty of time to cook. 8/10.
Arifureta is back again for a third season, and it remains the quintessential harem isekai. It opens with best girl giving a short recap of the highlights from last season to refresh your memory. The animation remains good, and the plot still seems to be straddling the line between edgy and comedy. Definitely not for everyone, but I'm always happy to see it back. 7/10.
