Kurt R. Brekke
I am a Professor of economics at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH). Currently, I am Head of the Department of Economics at NHH (2021-25). I was Chief Economist at the at the Norwegian Competition Authority (2016-2020).
My research interests are industrial organisation, healthcare and pharmaceutical markets, regulation and public policy.
I am a research fellow at CESifo, Centre for Applied Research (SNF), Centre for Business Economics (CBE) at NHH, and the Bergen Centre for Competition Law and Economics (BECCLE).
I am a member of government-appointed committee on Dental Care Reform (Tannhelseutvalget); Transparency and Prioritisation in Health Care (Prioriteringsutvalget om åpenhet). I'm also a panel member of the Riksbankens Jubileumsfond.
I have been engaged as an expert by public and private organisations, and also been an expert witness in several competition law cases.
