Academics
I am currently a student at Pingree School, an independent day school in South Hamilton, MA, known for its strong community spirit and excellent athletics program. What sets Pingree apart is its focus on student-centered learning, with 5 student resource centers on campus, and the emphasis on a well-rounded education.
Recently, Pingree introduced the APEX (Advanced Pingree Educational eXperience) curriculum starting from the class of 2025, replacing the traditional AP system. The APEX courses are designed to challenge students with real-world applications and a stronger focus on individualized research and social justice.
In addition to the school's academic focus, Pingree boasts a strong athletic program. As a member of the rowing and basketball teams, I've come to appreciate the school's commitment to excellence in sports both in terms of personal betterment and teamwork mentality.
School Life
Robotics
I'm a proud member of Pingree's Flying Horse VEX Robotics team since 9th grade, where we design, build, and program robots to compete in regional VEX competitions. Initially, I focused on the mechanical side of things as a builder, but over time, I shifted into programming. Working with my team to build capable robots that can perform complex game plays has been one of the most memorable moments of my high school experience. Some of our team's notable achievements include advancing to the quarterfinals and semifinals in past competitions.
Athletics
When I first visited the Springfield Basketball Hall of Fame in sixth grade, I sat in front of a large projection of Michael Jordan shooting hoops. Watching him dribble and shoot with such fluidity, I instantly saw myself playing on the court with confidence and style! That moment sparked my love for basketball!
Since seventh grade, I have been a player on the basketball team. I have grown rapidly as a player through every practice and game. As my grow taller, I also found my mindset becoming more open and positive! Regardless of the outcome of each game, I gained teamwork skills and deep friendships. While I dedicate more time to the weight room as a gym enthusiast today, I’m glad to have found the balance between strength and speed!
Rowing has been a major part of my life since 9th grade, and I am honored to be a captain for the 2025 season. Rowing's demand on physical stamina, mental focus, and synchronization pushed me to become a stronger athlete and leader. What makes rowing particularly special to me is its resemblance to the Dragon Boat Festival, which adds a deeper layer of personal connection to the sport.
Artworks
Drawing seems to be an inherent passion of mine! Ever since I could hold a pencil, I’ve loved sketching all kinds of images that popped into my head—whether on chalkboards, paper, or even walls! When my favorite marine animals, Jurassic-era dinosaurs, mighty armored generals, or mythical creatures of my imagination come to life on paper, it helps my brain recover from the exhaustion of schoolwork, filling me with energy and excitement!
Gym
Through lifting, I've found an outlet for channeling stress and building resilience. Every weight lifted challenged me set new goals and commit to them. Through gym, I've learned to balance intensity with recovery, and approach every one of my goals with consistency and patience.
