Hi there! I'm Kunal, a rising senior undergraduate @ Georgia Tech studying Computer Science concentrating in Artificial Intelligence and Computer Graphics. I aim to begin my Master's in Machine Learning at Georgia Tech in January 2025. At Georgia Tech, I've honed my interests in machine learning (ML), game design, computer animation, & research.

I am passionate about using computer science to help students with disabilities overcome their communication barriers. To carry out this vision, I founded my nonprofit organization, CodeConnect4All. Under my organization, I taught STEM classes to these students at a number of schools in my area. My efforts to help students with disabilities learn to code were recognized when I became a Prudential Spirit of Community Awards State Honoree.

I am also interested in video game development. I became an Apple WWDC Scholar. I won a scholarship to the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference for my Swift coding project, Star Catcher. In this game, a player uses sound to prevent a fish from falling. A player can earn points by catching “stars” and “planets” with the fish.

Some CS projects I have conducted focus on using machine learning in healthcare. One project focused on utilizing machine learning algorithms in the detection of breast cancer. Another project focused on using deep learning in the detection of melanoma.

I am also an AI4All Changemaker. During the AI4All program, I learned Python and machine learning on a much deeper level. In addition, I was able to conduct an individual research project in machine learning. For this project, I focused on leveraging machine learning models to analyze keywords in tweets to determine if a person has the flu. As an AI4All alum, I conducted a project where I implemented various ML algorithms to analyze attributes of a Pokémon to determine its primary classification using Python

I am also an avid member of Boy Scouts. Throughout my journey to become an Eagle Scout, I earned several merit badges that taught me public speaking and organization skills. As a part of Boy Scouts, I attended the National Youth Leadership Training Program, where I was able to develop valuable leadership skills.

I am currently a Teaching Assistant (TA) for CS 1332: Data Structures and Algorithms at Georgia Tech. As a TA, I answer students' questions and concerns during office hours and review recently covered topics during recitations.

At Georgia Tech, I'm also a part of a project team focusing on developing AI tools for education. Currently, I'm leading a project in developing a NLP algorithm to classify exam question difficulty based on keywords.

I'm also involved in a research group, Polo Club of Data Science, that focuses on developing visual analytical tools to facilitate understanding of complex topics. I'm spearheading the development of a visual analytics tool that summarizes university disciplines in colleges and matches students to their preferred research labs based on their research interests

I have also interned at Microsoft twice as a Software Engineer Intern, where I had the opportunity to delve into data analysis with KQL and F# and have used my skills to develop data visualizations and optimize workflows. In addition, I had the opportunity to hone my skills in C# and .NET while building an internal tool for my team.
