Hi! I am a PhD candidate (ABD) in Economics at Clark University, MA. Originally from Pakistan, I moved to the US four years ago for graduate school after completing my B.S. in economics and mathematics from my country.

My research interests include urban, labor,  development economics and economic history. I use spatial data to study different topics in urbanization and development.

In my job market paper, I construct a novel spatial dataset of the streetcar network in early 20th century Chicago.  I study the impact of the streetcar expansion on socioeconomic dynamics of small areas in the city. By using different econometric techniques, my paper highlights the importance of the understudied old-timey cars that shaped 'streetcar suburbs'.

My teaching experience includes both undergraduate and graduate level courses. I have taught an introductory undergraduate Economics course for two semesters and also served as a co-instructor of Math Camp for incoming PhD students.
