The camping leadership team is made up of 6-8 undergrad KU students. These students applied for this volunteer position to help carry on one of KU's great traditions.
Each year, the leadership team sends out an application to join the team via X (formerly known as Twitter). If selected, applicants will be selected to go through the interview process where the team decides which of the applicants is the best fit for the role.
We do lottery so that everyone has an equal opportunity to get at the top of the camping list. Our lottery system ensures a fair distribution process to provide access to close seats at the games.
The google form sign-up (also called lottery sign-in) opens at 5:00 am (Monday - Friday) and 7:00 am (Saturday - Sunday).
Show up for lottery at 5:30 am (Monday - Friday) and 7:30 am (Saturday - Sunday) but the doors close at 6:00 am sharp (Monday - Friday) and 8:00 am sharp (Saturday - Sunday).
Upon arriving, your group will need to check in with the leadership team to receive a piece of paper with your group number on it. This number will determine the order in which groups draw numbers.
You need at least 5 people in your group to show up for lottery to draw a number. If less than 5 people show up, you will not be eligible to draw but will be put at the bottom of the list after lottery.
Once lottery starts, the leadership team will make any necessary announcements then the lottery process will begin.
3 groups will come down at a time starting with group 1.
When its your groups turn to draw, we will start counting you off. Starting with your 1st person then counting till 5. That 5th person will draw a number, in which the leadership team will record. Each group receives one draw for every 5 participants present at the time of lottery. Each group is allowed a total of 6 draws, allowing a maximum of 30 people allowed in your camping group.
Once you draw a number, please exit Allen Fieldhouse immediately.
The list of camping groups and the order in which they are placed, will be posted on the north side doors (gate 21) of Allen Fieldhouse at 6:00 am on the first day of camping.
After camping starts, at least 1 person from your group needs to be present at all times. (Most groups use some type of sign-up sheet to ensure a group member will always be present).
A person needs to be present so that they can participate in roll call.
Roll call may be done at ANYTIME during camping hours by ANYONE in ANY group.
The person taking roll will make sure everyone camping at that time is awake and out of the bathrooms.
To ensure a group member makes it to roll call, that group member is strongly advised to not leave the designated camping area.
Final roll call is 3 hours before tipoff.
After final roll call groups are able to leave Allen Fieldhouse.
Your group should arrive at Allen Fieldhouse with your group 2 hours before tipoff.

In the event that there is more than 1 group with less than 5 people at the Lottery, a separate Lottery is held to determine their order at the bottom of the list.
3 hours before tip-off
Student doors open 2 hours before tip-off so it is recommended to line up 2 hours and 15 minutes before tip-off. Often times it takes time to find your group's location in line.
The attachment below is a map of the new spacing for students entering Allen Fieldhouse on game days! Camping groups 1-29 will be separated from camping groups 30+ and general students to avoid congestion when filtering into the building.
