Kavita Sutar-Deshpande

Currently I am an Associate Professor at the School of Computing and Data Science at Sai University, Chennai.

Before this I was a lecturer at the Chennai Mathematical Institute, Chennai, India. I served as one of the faculty advisors for the M.Sc. Data Science programme at CMI.

I graduated in May 2012 from Northeastern University in Boston.

My advisor was Prof. Jerzy Weyman.

Combinatorics and linear algebra have been my first love in mathematics, and they stay so till this day. Later on, calculus of manifolds and algebraic topology were my favourite subjects. My thesis and initial research interests were in the areas of representation theory, quiver representations and combinatorics.

Over the years I have moved to more computational areas of Mathematics. My current interests include Numerical Linear Algebra, Matrix Analysis, Scientific Computing and Computer Vision. My preferred programming languages are Python and Matlab.
