KANSAS. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR
[KSA 75-5701] Current name in use since 2004. The KANSAS. DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN RESOURCES was created in 1976 by Legislature's acceptance of Executive Order no. 14. Its creation brought together in one department other programs and agencies already in existence. An Executive Order in 2004 again reorganized the agency and renamed it the Kansas Department of Labor.
Included in this class are many of the predecessors of the above department: KANSAS. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR...this name was in use from circa 1958-1976. The Department was created in 1939 and was called KANSAS. STATE LABOR DEPARTMENT until about 1958. Before the Department was KANSAS. COMMISSION OF LABOR AND INDUSTRY, created in 1929 and abolished in 1939. Not generally included in this class is the Commission's predecessor: KANSAS PUBLIC SERVICE COMMISSION, 1925-1929 (see K-Doc area CB 300). The Commission's predecessor, KANSAS. COURT OF INDUSTRIAL RELATIONS, is also not generally included in this class (see K-Doc class area CB 100). Included in this class is the Court's predecessor, KANSAS. DEPARTMENT OF LABOR AND INDUSTRY. It was created in 1913 and abolished in 1921 to create the above Court. Also included in this class is the KANSAS. BUREAU OF LABOR AND INDUSTRY. It existed from 1898-1913 and was preceded by KANSAS. BUREAU OF LABOR AND INDUSTRIAL STATISTICS. This bureau was created in 1885 and abolished in during the special session of 1898. Also included in this class is KANSAS. STATE SOCIETY OF LABOR AND INDUSTRY.

KANSAS. COUNCIL ON EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING
Current name in use since 1983. From 1978-1983 called: KANSAS. STATE EMPLOYMENT AND TRAINING COUNCIL. From its creation in 1975 to 1978 it was called KANSAS. STATE MANPOWER SERVICES COUNCIL.
Included in this class: KANSAS. DIVISION OF EMPLOYMENT SECURITY.
This division was abolished in 1976 and replaced by a new DIVISION OF EMPLOYMENT (see HR 3). Many of its publications are scattered throughout the HR class area (HR 3, HR 8, HR 7, as well as HR 4. Its predecessor, KANSAS. EMPLOYMENT SECURITY DIVISION is also included in this class. The KANSAS. EMPLOYMENT SECURITY DIVISION was established in 1948. Its predecessor, KANSAS.
