About Me
Keith Russell
Keith Russell
I am a resident of Kennewick, Washington (Tri-Cities Area) and a recently retired High School Band and Orchestra Director. I have taught for over 30 years. My classes have included: early childhood music, humanities, both high school and college level Bands (Concert, Marching, Bagpipe, Jazz), small ensembles, and Orchestras (Strings only and Full symphony). In addition, I continue to perform extensively as a woodwind specialist (Clarinets, Flutes and Saxophones).
My interest in instrument repair and restoration began early as I experimented adjusting my personal "horns", learning to improve their responsiveness and playability. Throughout the years as a teacher and conductor, emergency repairs and fixes for others' instruments became regular occurrences. I have become pretty adept at diagnosing problems and completing repairs. I have even restored several keyboard percussion instruments. Most recently, I have embarked on a journey of becoming a master technician. My most recent projects include: Clarinet restorations, Saxophone overhauls, and flute renovations. I love taking good quality, vintage or well used "horns" and restoring them for younger players.
My enthusiasm for the arts has taken me throughout the Western United states including: California, Utah, Arizona, Oregon, and Washington. I hold degrees in Music Education and Conducting Performance from Brigham Young University and Northern Arizona University respectively. I am an active Clinician and Ajudicator for Bands and Orchestras
I am currently performing with the Columbia Basin Concert Band, Inland Northwest Symphony Orchestra, Rouge ét Noir Clarinet Ensemble, and the Tri-City Big Band here in Eastern Washington. My additional professional performance and conducting credits include musical theater, saxophone ensembles, studio work, solo, orchestra, concert bands, and jazz bands.
I look forward to serving you and your family's Band instrument and instruction needs.

So, your child wants to learn to play flute.
Where do you begin to look?
How much should you spend?
Which brands are good quality?
How come those bright shinny new instruments advertised on the internet are so much cheaper?
I can help you and probably save you 30-50%
If you already have an instrument in the closet,
I can help you evaluate its value, determine its usefulness, and restore it to "like new" for half the cost of a comparable new instrument.
