My paintings depict journeys through my internal worlds. They are not simply an escape from reality, but a reflection of it. I find myself within the water, flowing from mountains to streams to oceans. The creation of this project took place following a major betrayal, where I felt like my reality collapsed in on itself. Facing this trauma required diving into myself; a dive mimicked in the imagery of my pieces. I created a fantasy world in the water, a cycle of death and rebirth which I found myself caught within.

My paintings are the songs of my soul. While painting, I listen to evocative music, moving my brush and body in rhythm, finding harmony in my artistic composition. I repurposed previously used canvases, painting atop old images and starting over. I saw myself in the canvases, memories painted over with new realities.

Water is fluid, flowing from place to place, changing form. It adapts to its environment, and like life, it is constantly changing. Oil paint is similarly fluid, allowing blending, repainting, and the evolution of concepts. My paintings changed exponentially throughout the process, evolving with me. As I traversed heartbreak and learned to love myself, my paintings reflected that journey. In the paint, I found myself again.
