Kroot ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting the privacy of our users, especially the children who use our educational app. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard information when you use the Kroot mobile application.
This policy complies with the Google Play Store's requirements and applicable children's privacy laws, including the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
Kroot is designed for children aged 4 to 13. We do not knowingly collect Personally Identifiable Information (PII) directly from children.
Parental Gate: Any collection of personal data transmitted to our servers (such as information required for ordering physical card sets) is directed exclusively at parents or legal guardians. This is protected by a mandatory parental verification mechanism, which includes a secure parent password established during the initial app installation.
To provide and improve our educational services, we handle information in two distinct ways: data that stays on your device, and data transmitted to our servers.
A. Local Device Data (Never Transmitted)
Child Profile Information: Parents have the option to create a personalized profile for their child within the app. This may include the child's Name, Photo/Image, Age, and Gender.
Privacy Assurance: This profile information is stored strictly locally on your device. It is never transmitted to our servers, never collected by us, and never shared with any third parties. It is used solely to personalize the app experience on that specific device.
B. Data Transmitted to Our Servers
Parental Information for Orders: When a parent or guardian uses the app to order physical card sets (via Cash on Delivery), we collect the parent's Name, Phone Number, Email Address, and Physical Delivery Address. This information is collected solely through our password-protected parental gate and is used strictly to process and fulfill the physical order.
Device Information (Device ID): We collect your device's unique identifier (Device ID) to ensure that activation codes for our physical cards are securely linked to a single device. This prevents unauthorized sharing and ensures the integrity of the app's content.
App Usage and Activity Data: We track non-personally identifiable usage data to analyze our Minimum Viable Product (MVP) and improve the educational experience. This includes games played, session durations, in-game performance, and downloaded content.
C. Device Permissions
Camera: The app requests camera access to interact with our physical educational cards and to allow parents to take a profile picture for the local child profile.
Local Storage: Users can download and save images and voice files locally to the app. These files are stored directly on the user's device.
We do not sell, rent, or share personal data with third-party advertising or marketing companies. We only use third-party services necessary for the core functionality of the app:
Cloud Storage (Supabase): We use Supabase to securely store backend data, including the parents' order details and the non-personally identifiable usage activity mentioned above. Supabase is bound by strict data processing agreements to keep your data secure. (Note: The child's local profile data is never sent to Supabase).
The security of your data is important to us. All data transmitted between your device and our backend servers (Supabase) is encrypted in transit using industry-standard HTTPS (TLS/SSL) protocols. Furthermore, we restrict access to personal order details to authorized personnel only, strictly for the purpose of order fulfilment.
We retain the personal information collected for orders (Name, Phone, Email, Address) only for as long as necessary to fulfil the order and maintain a record of the transaction. Activity data is kept to continuously improve the app's educational value. Child profile data is retained locally on your device until the app is uninstalled or the data is manually deleted within the app.
Your Rights (Parents and Guardians): Parents and guardians have the right to review, update, or request the deletion of any personal information we have collected on our servers. If you wish to have your order details removed from our database or want to unlink your Device ID, please contact us at the email provided below.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, especially regarding how we handle children's data, we will notify parents at the email address provided during the ordering process or via a prominent notice in the app.
If you have any questions, concerns, or requests regarding this Privacy Policy or your data, don't hesitate to get in touch with us at:
