Warli art comes from the Warli tribe of Maharashtra, one of India’s oldest tribal communities. Traditionally, the art was drawn on mud walls using rice paste, showing scenes of village life — farming, dancing, celebrations, animals, and nature.
Warli uses very simple shapes — circle, triangle, square — to create beautiful stories and rhythmic patterns.
Its minimal, earthy style makes it calming and accessible for children.
Why it’s wonderful for children:
• easy, confidence-building shapes
• improves focus through repeated patterns
• boosts imagination and storytelling
• supports neatness and balance
• gives a peaceful, mindful drawing experience
Warli helps children enjoy art without pressure while connecting to India’s timeless tribal heritage.
Madhubani (Mithila art) comes from the historic Mithila region of Bihar, where it was traditionally painted on walls during weddings and festivals using natural colours from flowers, leaves, and rice paste.
Known for its bright colours, bold black outlines, and intricate patterns, this art form celebrates nature — peacocks, fish, trees, flowers, and sun motifs.
Why it’s wonderful for children:
• colourful and expressive
• encourages neatness & symmetry
• develops attention to detail
• builds colour sense and harmony
• soothing repeated patterns
• boosts artistic confidence
