I graduated from Waller High School in May 2017. Since then, I have attended three different colleges, changed majors, got married, and am now a mother to my beautiful two-year-old daughter. I came from a family of 7, my parents, four brothers and myself. Life was hectic to say the least, but we all survived. Right after high school I started studying to become a physical therapist, but as I continued in life I learned I had a passion for teaching, specifically young children. Looking back on my life I quickly realized why I felt this pull towards teaching. For as long as I can remember, I have always loved attending school and to learn new information. Especially anything in relation to math. Though I struggled the first few years in school, by fourth and fifth grade something in me clicked, well and the hours of practice, and next thing I knew I was always the student my classmates would come to about a math question they had. This continued even into college. After years and years of explaining concepts to my peers and being told how well I was able to explain it to their understanding, it finally hit me that I truly wanted to teach. Thinking back, I always had that desire, but ignored it. I have finally stopped ignore the thought and want to fully pursue education. Another reason behind this decision is because while growing up, my teachers were the ones I looked to for support and the validation I needed as a child. Now as I move closer to becoming an educator myself, I want to be able to provide that same feeling of security that I felt as a child in school. Which brings me to University of Houston - Victoria Katy campus where I graduated with my bachelor's of science in the concentration of early childhood to 6th grade education. I currently have passed my STR, Content Exam EC-6, and just received my results that I have passed EdTPA for teacher certification.
To be a passionate and creative educator, while creating a safe and positive classroom environment.
To inspire my future students to be the best versions of themselves.
To continue learning new information and skills in every stage of my life.
To effectively teach my students not only the required concepts, but meaningful life skills.
I take pride in hard work. I never shy away from a new challenge when one arises. If I notice a change needs to take place I will do all that is in my power to make the changes that best support any and all students, no matter their needs.
