"The Bridging Cultures Uganda Project" (created by Kristin Lundberg)
is a virtual cultural exchange program allowing middle and high school aged students in North Carolina to connect, create, and devise artistic projects with our partner school in Uganda, Africa.
The play on the left "Bridging Cultures" is a living newspaper performance project which the students at Rocky Mount High School students created, designed, performed, and toured to elementary schools in Eastern NC. Additionally, the video is a care package of toys which our students wanted to gift to our friends at the Uganda school in celebration of our friendship in community.
The play on the right "The Reimagined Tales of Uganda" is a compilation of student-written plays by the Fuquay-Varina Middle School students based off Ugandan folk tales. They created a video below of "We Are" poems which they wrote and dramatized about our culture, as well as their performance of seven short plays all ending with a celebration dance performed at a festival in Kampala each year.
