Students' Comments (UConn)
Professor Lalova is an absolute gem! The sweetest most caring professor. Any questions I had she was super happy to answer. Having an index card during exams was so helpful to actually learning which I loved. Because I had that I was able to actually complete the steps during my exam and when I left I retained information.
This instructor allowed us to become interested in the material by encouraging us to do well in her class. She was very supportive, helpful, and kind. I always felt like I could accomplish a great grade and the way she made it possible only made me want to learn more. She set her class up for success, and I appreciate that more than anything. Definitely one of the best professors I have ever had at UCONN.
I appreciated Professor Lalova's care for us as students, asking for our input before making certain decisions. She made herself very accessible to us. If we couldn't make the office hours, she was willing to meet with us at another time. I also like that she had us do article summaries. It helped us to apply the concepts we were learning to the real world.
Professor Lalova was always trying her best to accommodate for the students and make the material as easy to understand as possible. She also was always rooting for us to get the best grades we can and made it clear she never wanted anyone to do badly so she made expectations very clear and always laid out what we had to do well.
There were many positive aspects that this instructor offered. First, I would say that she always made sure to explain topics clearly. If a student did not understand something she made sure to go further into detail and explain it in a way that made more sense. Also, this instructor was always available for extra help. Anytime a student needed extra help after class the instructor was able to provide.
Every week we submitted a discussion post summarizing an article about current events in the stock market. I looked forward to our discussion in class about key take aways from our posts. Professor Lalova really made sure we understood what was happening in the real world in application to our class material. This made class so interesting, that I learned a lot, and was really able to retain the material.
Professor Lalova really seemed like the kind of instructor that genuinely wanted her students to succeed. She persevered through COVID restrictions and offered an in–person version of class, as well as online. She gave us options of whether or not we wanted to take a final exam or do a project, and she listened to us when we needed help with anything.
She took her time and explained problems/concepts really well. She also gauged our participation which I felt was helpful. She was also very accessible to students which I admired.
