I am interested in teaching various macro-level management topics including strategic management, organization theory, business ethics, business sustainability, and entrepreneurship. I am also looking forward to opportunities to teach interdisciplinary courses and to develop new courses according to departmental needs.
My teaching is centered on the belief that education should be transformative, empowering students to engage critically, empathetically, and ethically with the world. I aim to provide more than just course content—my goal is to prepare students for their careers and their lives beyond graduation. I strive to create an inclusive and stimulating classroom environment where students feel safe to take risks, try new ideas, and even fail, knowing that it is part of the learning process. It’s important to me that they feel supported as they step out of their comfort zones and engage with the material, their peers, and their own thinking.
My teaching philosophy is grounded in three key pillars: experiential learning, service learning, and inclusion. I believe that the most effective learning happens when students apply theoretical concepts to real-world situations. I incorporate experiential learning opportunities, such as using current events and case studies to apply course material. I also encourage students to work on projects for local businesses, allowing them to create meaningful solutions. Through service learning, students engage directly with communities and organizations. This allows them to make a tangible impact while reflecting on the broader ethical implications of their work. Lastly, I am deeply committed to inclusion. I strive to create a classroom where students feel heard and valued, fostering open discussions and facilitating deeper learning. I also strive to recognize the unique needs of each student, ensuring equitable access to education.
In sum, my teaching aims to develop well-rounded, competent, and socially responsible individuals. I use a variety of methods to address diverse learning styles, continuously improving my approach through feedback, professional development, and engagement with educational research. Through this dynamic process, I hope to foster both individual and societal growth.

I loved this course. It was extremely relevant to my post-grad job and it was exactly what I needed before graduating.
At the beginning of the year I was scared to take this class but I am glad I was able to take it with you.
Prof. Raney is great. She does a wonderful job teaching the material and is very helpful with any and all questions raised by students.
Here are some of [the] practices by Dr. Raney that stood out to me: great communication, was willing to change the due dates to better accommodate our schedule, informative critical feedback, fast response outside of class, interactive class discussion, every class she mentioned current events that were related to class topic, and many more.
I love that she does in class activities that really engage everyone in the class and helps us understand concepts in real life.
There's a nice variety to the lecture time. She's high energy as well which makes for a good lecture. The activities are fun and stimulate learning.
I really like when Professor Raney would conduct in class examples and we would work together as teams in solving issues related to the learning material.
Raney is overall a very kind, caring, and intelligent professor that cares a lot about her students. I had a pleasure discussing with her in class and feel comfortable asking questions. Unlike other professors, she provides really well thought out answers and I appreciate how sometimes she even digs for additional information outside of class and posts it in our announcement.
Professor went above and beyond. Beginning of class always started with real world examples, allowed for discussions, answered questions adequately, takes time to research outside of class on discussions made in class and sends us her findings via email, lastly provides really detailed feedback on our assignments. Overall very pleased with Dr Raney work.
A lot of the activities that helped students loosen up in the middle of a class were great. It helped students get to know each other and made the class more interesting as opposed to just a really long lecture.
