I bought a Toyota Tundra, a Kingston trailer, and Rosebud Gogo. I had never had a Paint, and had wanted one all my life. A true, stock, western, cowgirl kind of horse. I found her in Ohio, and by coincidence, my blacksmith at the time was at a show out there. So I asked him to take a look at her, and if he thought she looked good to get her. It took 17 hours to get her home, all the while, I tried to get some sleep on the couch wondering what I had just got myself into. I can tell you that Dave said, as she stepped off the trailer, " You got yourself a good one". She has never disappointed me, and feels like a dream under saddle, comfortable as a couch, although at times she could be a witch (ears back, fresh), she was quite a humble mare, once put in her place.
I had bred dogs all my life, but never horses. So, I set out to find a stallion for my mare; I searched high and low, every Sunday, looking online and taking day trips to local farms that offered stallion services. I settled on a Skipper W stallion out of Black Canyon Ranch in Colorado. I found this stallion in Virginia at Glenhaven; Jeanne Northrup had sold "Rocky", Skips Rimrock Breeze to Susy Moody.
I was going to do a live cover, and send Gogo down to Virginia for a month or two, but at the time, gas prices at soared to over $4.00 a gallon, if I remember correctly, so I decided to use artificial insemination. I secured the services of WhitAcres Farm and veterinarian Dana Pantero from Black Pond Veterinary. I administered Regu-Mate to her, to get her cycle on track, and I can say on first try, GoGo took, and on day 13 through ultrasound, I glimpsed the first sight of little Lily Lulu. Gogo had the best of care for those 11 months, and I used to talk to Lily through her belly; she used to kick and move all around when she heard my voice. Gogo was definitely a good mother, and she is still a very worthy breeding prospect.
Since her birth, the two mares have been together. It is my wish that they remain together, but I know that is not always possible. I would consider special pricing if in fact, someone would want the both of them.
