Our Hand embroidered tablecloth runners create a festive and cheerful setting for any meal! Today we are sharing a few helpful tips on how to keep your linens looking as fresh as the day they arrived.

WASH

How you wash your linens will be dependent on your personal preference. If you love your napkins and runners to be super crisp, we recommend dry cleaning. If you are someone that is familiar with how linen responds when washed, and you enjoy the character the fabric develops after washing, you can opt to hand wash your linens in cool to warm water or machine wash them in a gentle cold cycle up to 65° F. If you decide to machine wash your linens, we recommend not using bleach and skipping the dryer. Always lay linens flat to dry or line dry.

IRONING & STORAGE

Don’t want to make a trip to the dry cleaner but prefer a crisp look? You can iron your linens on a steam setting. We recommend always ironing when damp, if your napkin or runner have already dried before ironing, spritz them with water using a spray bottle, especially on any obvious creases and wrinkles. 

Whenever possible, store linens without folding. Linen runners are best when rolled. Keep linens in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to avoid normal color fade.

STAIN

Fresh stains are much easier to remove than old ones, so take care of stains as soon as you can! Best methods for stains include:

• Blot up any excess liquid with a clean, dry white cloth, or paper towel.

• Avoid rubbing the stained area with a terry cloth towel to keep fabric pilling to a minimum. Using a flat cloth dab at it with a bit of water. If it does not come out completely, add a tiny bit of OBA free detergent and dab at the spot, repeating the process until the stain is removed.

• Never rub a fresh stain with bar soap. Soap sets many stains

For candle wax stains we recommend the Martha Stewart method: First scrape off the spilled wax with a dull knife. Then, place several layers of kraft paper under the linen and one sheet on top of the stain. Iron on a low heat setting until the wax is drawn into the paper, moving the paper around until all the wax is gone.
