Become a Stream Watch Ambassador or volunteer Steward today!
Stream Watch is a volunteer program co-managed by the Kenai Watershed Forum and the Forest Service to assist land management agencies and promote river stewardship on Alaska's Kenai Peninsula through education, restoration, and protection. Volunteers complete hands-on projects to protect salmon habitat across the Kenai Peninsula. We help to connect people to our rivers through peer-to-peer education.
After decades of use and thousands of visitors, the rivers need your help to erase the marks left on the highly valued natural and cultural resources that exist. Your presence, your concern and your Stream Watch efforts will have a lasting effect. Get involved by either becoming a Stream Watch Ambassador or by attending a Stewardship Event.
Stream Watch Ambassadors receive training to provide extraordinary education and stewardship on the river. Ambassadors are outfitted with the knowledge and supplies to spend their days along the beautiful Kenai Peninsula Rivers sharing information and enthusiasm to protect habitat for future generations of people and wildlife. In addition to collecting litter and completing salmon saving fencing projects, Ambassadors educate river users on the importance of riverside plants, bear awareness, ethical angling, and agency regulations. All of the training, supplies and on-going support are provided for a successful Stream Watch season.
Ambassadors must be physically fit individuals who are interested in making a difference on local rivers. They are required to attend an orientation and commit to a minimum of 24 volunteer hours (June-Sept) on the river. For Ambassadors who travel to participate in Stream Watch, campsites are available on a first come, first served basis for up to a week at a time!
Calling all stewards!
We are looking for groups of all ages and abilities who can commit to at least one day (June-Sept) working to protect Kenai Peninsula rivers. Stewards help with projects such as international coastal cleanups, constructing monofilament line recycling containers, constructing habitat fences, and aiding in other restoration efforts. A variety of opportunities are available throughout the summer!
Be the change! Spend a few hours making a huge impact on local rivers. Training and supplies are provided for a great day in the great outdoors. This opportunity is great for individuals, families, scout groups, clubs and businesses.

Stream Watch wouldn't be the program it is today without the generous support of the community. If you would like to join the individuals and organizations that make this program possible, you can donate to Stream Watch through the Kenai Watershed Forum's website.
Are you interested in a career in environmental education, volunteer management, or natural resource management? Gain valuable experience through a paid Stream Watch Internship opportunity.
