Frequently Asked Questions
What is IDLE Shell and why does one need it to play the Python based games?
Standing for Interactive Python Shell, this is python code executer that will run the code of specific KGC games that were coded in python. Originally, the earlier games using python were coded with python's IDLE Shell version 3.12.4. The current version, which the code will still function on, is 3.13.2, which you can download at the official, trusted Python website at https://www.python.org/downloads/.
How does one run games on the IDLE Shell?
1. After you open the application, look at the top left corner for File. Click that and press Open. This should lead you to your files.
2. Select the game file or program you want to run by finding and double clicking it. After doing so, a new window should open up with a Python emblem.
3. Look at the top left corner again, this time for Run. This, obviously, is for running the code. Click it and select Run Module. On the IDLE Shell application, the other window, text from the game file or program will appear, most likely in a blue typewriter font.
4. If the program crashes (unlikely to happen), it will display what it thinks the error is in red font. The crash is likely your fault. Simply exit out of that window and repeat step 3. The IDLE Shell window will open up again and start over the game file or program you were running.
Why are the games within Google Slides so hard to run?
Due to the sheer number of slides within some of these games (LAL2 - 150 slides, Manipulation - 50 slides, etc.), these games can be slow to process on your computer. If it is a Chromebook, especially a lower end one, it will especially lag due to the hardware limitations (despite it running a Google app). Games like Hostile Combat I use hundreds of high-resolution images and graphics throughout, as well as sound effects and audio, which make it nearly impossible to run on most smartphones via the Slides app. A PC is recommended because of this.
Do I have to pay for the video games as it says on their pages?
Yes. Yes, you do.
