Introduction This Privacy Policy describes how Snap It: Kosher Check ("we", "our", or "the App") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

1. Camera and Photo Access Purpose: To scan product labels and barcodes for kosher analysis. What we access: Photos you take using the in-app camera or select from your photo library. How we use it: Images are sent to Anthropic's Claude AI over a secure HTTPS connection for real-time ingredient and brand analysis. The image is encoded and transmitted only when you initiate a scan. Local storage: A copy of each scanned image is saved on your device as part of your scan history so you can review past results.

2. Scan History What is stored: Product names, brand names, ingredient lists, kosher compliance grades, brand kosher ratings (subscription feature), detected certification symbols, timestamps, and the associated product image. Where it is stored: Entirely on your device using local storage (AsyncStorage). Scan history is never uploaded to our servers. Retention: Data remains on your device until you clear your history in Settings or uninstall the app.

3. AI Processing Service provider: Anthropic Claude AI. What we send: The product image you scanned, transmitted over HTTPS. What we receive back: Product name, brand name, ingredient list with individual kosher grades, overall kosher score, detected certification symbols, brand kosher rating, and image-quality metrics. Provider retention: Anthropic processes the image in real time and does not permanently store it. See Anthropic's privacy policy at https://www.anthropic.com/privacy.

4. In-App Purchases Subscription management: Handled by RevenueCat, which communicates with the Apple App Store or Google Play Store to verify your subscription status. What RevenueCat receives: An anonymous app-user ID and your subscription entitlement status. RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or payment details. Payment processing: All payments are processed entirely by Apple or Google. We never see or store your credit card, billing address, or other payment information. What we store locally: Only your current subscription tier (free, unlimited, or premium) so the app knows which features to unlock. RevenueCat privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy

How We Use Your Information

Kosher Analysis

• Identify ingredients from product labels

• Detect kosher certification symbols (OU, OK, Kof-K, Star-K, CRC, and others)

• Grade individual ingredients for kosher compliance

• Calculate an overall kosher score

• Evaluate brand kosher reputation (subscription feature)

• Flag potentially problematic ingredients

Scan History

• Store scan results locally so you can review past products

• Allow you to track products and brands over time

App Features

• Barcode lookup for known products

• Image-quality assessment and real-time camera guidance

• Multi-language support (English and Hebrew)

• Share scan results via your device's native share dialog

Data Storage and Security

Local Storage

• All scan data is stored exclusively on your device.

• We do not operate servers or databases that contain your information.

• Your data leaves your device only during the real-time AI scan (sent to Anthropic) and during subscription verification (handled by RevenueCat and Apple/Google).

Security

• On-device data benefits from your operating system's built-in encryption.

• All network communication uses secure HTTPS connections.

• No third party has access to your local scan history.

Data Sharing

• Share button: When you tap share, you choose what to send and where via your device's native share sheet.

• Shared content may include: product name, kosher score, certifications, brand rating (if subscribed), and an App Store link.

• We never share your data automatically or without your action.

Subscription Plans

• Free: 2 scans per day.

• Unlimited Scans: $3.99/month or $24.99/year — unlimited daily scans.

• Premium: $4.99/month or $37.99/year — unlimited scans plus detailed brand kosher ratings and ingredient-level ratings.

All subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Manage or cancel subscriptions in your Apple or Google account settings.

Third-Party Services

1. Anthropic Claude AI

• Purpose: Real-time ingredient analysis and kosher compliance assessment.

• Data sent: Product images only.

• Retention: Images are not permanently stored by Anthropic.

2. RevenueCat

• Purpose: Subscription management and entitlement verification.

• Data sent: Anonymous app-user ID and subscription status.

• No personal data: RevenueCat does not receive your name, email, or payment details.

Your Rights and Choices

Delete Your Data

• Clear History in Settings removes all scan data from your device immediately.

• Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.

Manage Permissions

• Camera: Required for scanning. Revoke in your device settings at any time.

• Photo Library: Optional, only needed to select existing images. Revoke in your device settings at any time.

• Revoking camera access prevents new scans but does not delete existing history.

Manage Subscriptions

• Cancel or change your subscription in your Apple or Google account settings.

Children's Privacy This app is rated 4+ and is suitable for users of all ages. We do not collect personal information from any user. All data is stored locally on the user's device. Data Retention

On Device

• Scan history is stored on your device until you clear it or uninstall the app.

• May be included in your device backups (iCloud, Google) which you control.

AI Processing

• Images are processed in real time and not permanently retained by Anthropic.

Our Servers

• We do not maintain servers or databases containing user data. Zero server-side storage.

International Users This app is available worldwide. When you scan a product, the image is transmitted to Anthropic's servers (which may be located in the United States or other jurisdictions) for real-time processing. No other data is transferred internationally.

Legal Compliance

California (CCPA)

• Right to know what personal information we collect (we collect none on our servers).

• Right to delete (clear history on your device).

• We do not sell personal information.

European Economic Area (GDPR)

• Right to access (view your scan history in the app).

• Right to deletion (clear history or uninstall).

• Right to withdraw consent (revoke permissions in device settings).

• Since all data is stored locally, you maintain complete control.

Educational Use Disclaimer Snap It: Kosher Check is provided for educational and informational purposes only. AI analysis may not be 100% accurate. Brand kosher ratings are AI-generated assessments and should not be the sole basis for kosher decisions. Always verify kosher status with certified kosher supervision authorities and consult your rabbi for definitive determinations. We are not responsible for dietary decisions made based on app results.
