Exploring the Universe Through Engineering
Exploring the Universe Through Engineering
Dr. Kosar Khajeh is a Research Scientist at the Technical University of Darmstadt, specializing in computational materials science with a focus on sustainable polymer recycling and circular economy solutions. With a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Tabriz (2020) and over 5 years of specialized experience, she transforms complex thermal and fluid dynamics challenges into high-performance industrial solutions.
Her research bridges fundamental physics with practical engineering applications through advanced multiscale modeling—from atomic-level molecular dynamics to macro-scale CFD simulations. At TU Darmstadt's internationally recognized Müller-Plathe Group, she develops innovative compatibilizer strategies for polymer blend recycling, contributing directly to Europe's sustainable materials goals. Her work combines rigorous computational methods (MD, BD, CFD) with proven industry collaboration skills, demonstrated through successful partnerships with Mitsui Chemical Company during her research position at the University of Hyogo, Japan.
Dr. Khajeh has delivered measurable impact in industrial-relevant research: achieving 82% Second Law efficiency in thermal system optimization, developing novel multiscale frameworks for polymer viscosity analysis, and securing 2 million core-hours on Germany's JUWELS supercomputer for polymer compatibilizer research. She serves as co-organizer of the EcoCompute CECAM-CSCS workshop on sustainable scientific computing, demonstrating leadership in both technical innovation and scientific community engagement.
With international research experience across Iran, Japan, and Germany, she brings a global perspective and proven ability to deliver results in collaborative environments. She is passionate about applying her computational expertise to solve real-world industrial challenges in thermal management, polymer engineering, and sustainable manufacturing.
