MY 2026 PLANS
VACATION RIDE - May 18-29, 2026. Length of trip: 6500+ miles. MN > NE > KS > OK > TX > NM > AZ > CA > NV > UT > CO > WY > MT > ND > MN
OKIE DOKIE - date TBD, 2000-2200 mile Loop through Eastern Oklahoma for a few Route 66 stops on the 100th anniversary of the road
GLACIAL LAKES MOTORCYCLE CLUB GRAND TOUR - theme and dates TBD (see motorcycle games page for more info)
SADDLESORE RIDES
BROCKWAY, OGDENVILLE, AND NORTH HAVERBROOK! - date TBD. Length of trip: 989* Mount Arvon (highest point in Michigan) and Brockway Mountain Drive. Not quite enough miles to be an official IBA ride, so I will either add some distance or I might just do 300 miles after work, camp somewhere, then do the rest of the miles the next day. Pretty sure there aren't monorails anywhere on the route.
I'LL BE DEEP IN THE COLD COLD GROUND BEFORE I RECOGNIZE MISSOURAH! - date TBD. Length of trip: 242 miles to overnight stop, then (1000-1050, final routing TBD) miles in 24 hours or less. Passing through the town of Skidmore, MO which has a few interesting crime stories attached to it. Revisiting a number of counties by way of motorcycle that I have already been to in a car so I can say 100% of my visited counties were visited by way of motorcycle.
OR PERHAPS YOU DON'T WANT TO SEE THE SECOND LARGEST BALL OF TWINE ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH - date TBD. Length of trip: 242 miles to overnight stop, then (1000-1050, final routing TBD) miles in 24 hours or less. Passing by one of the biggest balls of twine in the US, depending on your criteria for such things. I've already been to the one in Kansas and the one in Minnesota (and a big ball made of string in Missouri). My kids favorite road trip song is this one by Weird Al. I'm revisiting a number of counties by way of motorcycle that I have already been to in a car so I can say 100% of my visited counties were visited by way of motorcycle.
BIG WISH LIST OF RIDES
Most of these are planned to be between five to sixteen day rides. If you get even 25% of the funny trip name references, we can be friends.
MULTI-COUNTRY
Oh, you don't wanna go down that rhoooad - VT, NH, ME, CT, MA, RI, and visiting every single county inside them in one ride. Over the top of and down through Michigan, Niagra Falls, back into the states to get out there, and then Montreal and Ottawa on the way back to Minnesota via the Michigan U.P.. Possible detour to NYC and the store from the movie Clerks in NJ as well.
Randy, I am the liquor - Newfoundland, Labrador, Nova Scotia, PEI, New Brunswick
Just the tip - Southern Canada, Stewart AK, Salmon Glacier
North to Alaska, we go north, the rush is on- (18+ days) Central Canada and then loop through Tok, Fairbanks, Anchorage AK with a detour to Homer.
Diamonds and rust - Billy Diamond road to Hudson Bay
Mukluk up to Tuk - Dempster Highway to Tuktoyaktuk
CROSS COUNTRY
Rock rock, Rockaway Beach - NY to CA to see both Rockaway Beaches, even though I know they were singing about New York.
Way down the Mississippi River to da Gulf uh Mex-e-co - Itasca to the Gulf, return through Lake Charles and East Texas
Space Ghost Coast to Coast - (8500+ miles) A coast to coast to coast ride followed by transversing most of the country south to north. Minnesota > Redball Garage NY > (following the Brock Yates Cannonball route) Portofino Hotel, L.A. CA > San Diego CA > Jacksonville FL > Minnesota
Listen, I'll prove it! THE STARS AT NIGHT ARE BIG AND BRIGHT *clap clap clap clap* Deep in the heart of Texas! - Seeing how fast I can go from the Minnesota/Canada border to the Texas coast, and returning via the Twisted Sisters roads, the highest point in Texas, and a few points in northern New Mexico.
George A. Wyman, that's why, man - Take the cross country route George A Wyman made when he became the first person to ride sea to sea on a motorcycle.
INSIDE THE US
Tryna catch me ridin' dirty - 1000 miles or more in 24 hours or less on gravel/dirt roads. Pavement for gas stations doesn't count towards the total milage. Most likely a four times transversed 250 mile route from Western MN to NW IA so I can bail out near home or my parent's house if there are mechanical or biological failures. The other idea is a multi-lap local loop ride of about 80-100 miles per lap. This also allows for an easy bail out if I'm unable to complete the ride.
Fire on the mountain run boys run - ride to and hike the highest points of GA, FL, SC, AL, MS
Cheeseburger in Paradise - Minnesota to Key West with stops at the Barber Museum, St. Louis arch, and Bigfoot 4x4 Inc.
You mean the wig sphere? - Knoxville Sunsphere, Wheels Through Time, Blue Ridge Parkway, Copperhead Road, and Tail of the Dragon
Tossed salad and scrambled eggs - Yellowstone, Grand Teton, Seattle Space Needle, Olympic National Park, Leslie Gulch
Hell on Wheels - Sierra Nevada mountains, redwood forest, Northern Nevada, Fly Ranch Geyser, Bonneville Salt Flats, Promontory Summit
California Über Alles - San Diego up to San Francisco along the coast, with a few stops at famous L.A. locations. Probably Yosemite Park on the way back east.
Cesspool on the Potomac - Washington DC, return through the Adirondacks and Canada
Life ain't nothin' but a funny funny riiiiiiiiddllllllllllllle - DE, VA, WV, Chesapeake Bay Tunnel
THE LONG AND SHORT OF IT (1-2 day long distance rides)
Wynot Minot (1100 miles, 1 day) - Parent's home in NW Iowa to Wynot NE, Pickstown SD dam, up the east side of the to Minot, then SE to Fargo and home.
Amarillo by mornin' (975-1000 miles, 1 day) - rapid transit down to Texas, then do a lap of the state along the border over the next couple days.
Lakes to low tide - (1323 miles, 2 days) Hudson Bay is technically closer, but far more difficult to access (Billy Diamond Road). Gulfport, MS is the nearest ocean while staying in the states, if you don't count the Chesapeake or Delaware bays (they're only 75 miles closer anyway). Return at a slower pace up the Mississippi.
