I'm in my last year of high school and I want to study chemical engineering. I like understanding why things work, which is how most of my projects begin: a question in class that I can't stop thinking about.
Outside the lab I play the violin in the school orchestra, shoot hoops with the varsity team and volunteer at a food bank on Saturdays.
Favourite subjects: chemistry, mathematics and physics. Languages: English and Spanish (fluent), French (intermediate).
Three things teachers and teammates would probably say about me.
Most of my projects started as a question in class that I couldn't let go of.
I learn best with my hands busy: lab benches, circuit boards, a laptop and a deadline.
From the robotics pit to the orchestra, the best results came from good teams.
[Book title] by [Author]. Before that, a lot of popular science and one very long fantasy series.
Organic chemistry ahead of college, and how to make the robot's arm stop shaking.
Baking for friends, long bike rides and practising the same violin passage until my family begs me to stop.
Awards, honors and the projects behind them are on the next page.
