Upcoming Test - This Friday 4/5/22
How do we find the roots of an equation?
Find the factors of the equation with the diamond and box method.
Set each factor equal to zero and solve for x. This is called the zero product property.
How do we find the line of symmetry of the equation?
Find the midpoint of the roots.
One method to find the midpoint is add both roots together and divide by two.
How do we find the vertex?
Plug the value you found for your line of symmetry into the equation for x, then solve.
The line of symmetry is the x value, the value you just calculated is the y value.
How do we find Vertex Form?
Plug the x value from the vertex in for h in the equation below. Plug the y value from the vertex in for k in the equation below.
How do we find the y-intercept?
The c value in our base equation (the value without an x) is the y value of the y-intercept. The x value is always zero.
