Fitting the replacement display

The display PCB needs to be trimmed before it will fit into the Z1's mounting area. To ease work and prevent damage, temporarily remove the LCD from the PCB.

The replacement display has a lower depth than the original and consequently ends up slightly further away from the front glass. To get it closer to the glass, I cut away the LCD PCB where the mounting holes would have gone. To mount the LCD, I created a mounting plate to which the LCD's PCB could be attached.

In retrospect, I do not think getting the display closer to the glass worth the trouble. It does not make that much difference and means a lot of additional work. Rather than bothering with cutouts and a mounting plate, simply drill the LCD's PCB in the appropriate locations and mount it directly.
