The opening scene features Oh Mi-joo rushing to the Annam International Film Festival, and Ki Seon-gyeom getting ready for the same festival. It is revealed that Ki Seon-gyeom is on Korea's national track and field team, and that he is the second-born son of famous parents. Meanwhile, Seo Dan-ah and Lee Young-hwa separately listen in on a radio program featuring Ki Seon-gyeom's mother. At the same time, Oh Mi-joo watches Ki Seon-gyeom's mother shooting the program live, and catches her attention by fangirling in the audience. Later, Ki Seon-gyeom finds his friends (including rising track star Kim Woo-shik) at a cafe but gets upset when one of them calls him an AS. They all later watch a film together at the festival, and Oh Mi-joo's name appears in the credits as the film's translator. After the movie, it's revealed that Oh Mi-joo and the director of the film were in a relationship together though they eventually broke up. That night, Oh Mi-joo and Ki Seon-gyeom coincidentally drink at the same bar, with Oh Mi-joo's former professor drunkenly throwing a shot of soju at her face when she refuses to fill his glass. He takes this as a show of disrespect and complains that "just because you're pretty... it's not enough to excuse that attitude of yours". When she quickly retorts that the quality of her translation has nothing to do with her appearance, he flies into a tantrum, resulting in his wig falling off. She leaves the bar and unexpectedly bumps into Ki Seon-gyeom, who helps her collect her belongings (including a gun) when she falls. When the director tries to force her into accepting the professor's apology, Ki Seon-gyeom threatens him with Oh Mi-joo's gun and Oh Mi-joo leaves unhurt. The next day, Ki Seon-gyeom and his friends (including Kim Woo-shik) attend track practice, and their teammates talk about him behind his back in the locker room. After practice, Kim Woo-shik talks to Ki Seon-gyeom about them, and Ki Seon-gyeom tells him not to blame himself for not being fast enough. When the director tells Oh Mi-joo that she is being replaced by her former professor, she unsuccessfully tries to regain his favor by returning his wig. Later, Ki Seon-gyeom confronts Kim Woo-shik about the bruises on his body. Kim Woo-shik hesitantly tells him that as the youngest member of the team, he is getting beaten up by his other teammates. Oh Mi-joo tries to appeal to her professor again, and she succeeds; she takes a job as a part time interpreter for Ki Seon-gyeom's father. The next morning, Oh Mi-joo's gun is stolen and Ki Seon-gyeom again finds her, and using a water bottle case from Lee Young-hwa, helps her retrieve it. Ki Seon-gyeom, who, before helping Oh Mi-joo, was on a call with Sports Agency president Seo Dan-ah, misses all of Seo Dan-ah's calls. When Seo Dan-ah's youngest brother brings food to her office, she complains about him being a nuisance and he smashes a pot before leaving. After spending the day in police custody, Oh Mi-joo and Ki Seon-gyeom exchange numbers. The next day, Oh Mi-joo finds Ki Seon-gyeom's face on an advertisement, leading her to assume he is a model. Oh Mi-joo encounters Seo Dan-ah when she goes to to the interpretation job, and Seo Dan-ah verbally harasses her, before revealing that she "owns" the athelete Oh Mi-joo will be translating for. The two get coffee together, and Oh Mi-joo quickly finds out that she will be translating for Ki Seon-gyeom.
After her meeting with Seo Dan-ah, Oh Mi-joo finds a newspaper with a front page headline "Ki Seon-gyeom and Choi Tae-ri dating." Seo Dan-ah confronts Ki Seon-gyeom about this and she reveals that Ki Seon-gyeom had at one point he had liked her. Later, Oh Mi-joo meets Ki Seon-gyeom and asks him to give back her gun (which at this point is revealed to be an exquisite fake). He tells her where it is, and when she asks him about the newspaper, he replies that he and Choi Tae-ri are not dating. Unlike Oh Mi-joo, Ki Seon-gyeom isn't concerned with the gossip surrounding him. That day, Oh Mi-joo checks her phone as Ki Seon-gyeom thinks about what to text her. Oh Mi-joo also finds out that Ki Seon-gyeom's mother is the famous actress she fangirled over at the film festival. She complains that unlike Ki Seon-gyeom, she doesn't have a family name to support her work. That night, when Kim Woo-shik is bullied by the older teammates for not buying one of them cigarettes, he realizes that the oldest teammate is jealous of Ki Seon-gyeom. When Ki Seon-gyeom finds Kim Woo-shik beat up in an alley, he takes him to the hospital. After leaving Kim Woo-shik at the hospital, Ki Seon-gyeom gets revenge on his behalf, but ends up disappointed when the coaches refuses to do anything about the situation. Later, Seo Dan-ah's youngest brother goes to her office and cleans the mess he made the day before. He laments that he was born a bastard and is not acknowledged as a member of the family. Meanwhile, Seo Dan-ah finds Oh Mi-joo working at a cafe and Oh Mi-joo immediately tries to avoid her. While Oh Mi-joo hides in the bathroom, Seo Dan-ah accidentally smudges one of Lee Young-hwa's paintings in the cafe and she buys it in compensation. On her way to the office, Seo Dan-ah grumbles when she sees her brother complaining about cleaning the broken flower pot in her office. When Lee Young-hwa goes to the cafe, he finds Oh Mi-joo and remembers her from the incident with the gun. They officially meet, and he reveals that he is still an art student. When Seo Dan-ah finds Ki Seon-gyeom in her office with a bloody face, she reveals her manipulative methods when she discusses how she will be able to use the violent incident with the teammates to portray Ki Seon-gyeom as a hero. Ki Seon-gyeom angrily retorts that Seo Dan-ah is using her position to promote her clothing company. He leaves the meeting when he sees her selfish motives for helping him. However, just as he leaves the building, Ki Seon-gyeom runs into Choi Tae-ri's agent and reacts negatively when the agent insults Seo Dan-ah, and accuses him of using Choi Tae-ri as a "stepping stone." Back in the building, Seo Dan-ah callously fails to see how her plans are extremely offending to Ki Seon-gyeom. Meanwhile, Oh Mi-joo meets Ki Seon-gyeom, and the two agree to watch "her" movie together. He later finds out that rather than acting in the movie she translated the movie. After the movie they bond over drinks. However, when Oh Mi-joo walks a drunk Ki Seon-gyeom to his car, she finds Ki Seon-gyeom and Choi Tae-ri's agent- who still thinks Ki Seon-gyeom and Choi Tae-ri are dating- in a fight. Ki Seon-gyeom clears up the misconception by telling him that Oh Mi-joo is his girlfriend. He then kisses her and tells her she is seriously his girlfriend.
After Ki Seon-gyeom kisses Oh Mi-joo, he drunkenly falls on her and she carries/drags him to her house. Ki Seon-gyeom rests at Oh Mi-joo's house until he is sober. At the breakfast table, he reveals that although he remembers the kiss, he initially thought it was a dream. After breakfast, Ki Seon-gyeom lets Oh Mi-joo go for a ride in his car, and the two go to Seo Dan-ah's office. Upon discovering that Seo Dan-ah is not in her office, Ki Seon-gyeom asks Oh Mi-joo to drive him to the hospital and pick up a stuffed animal to take to Kim Woo-shik. Oh Mi-joo drives to an arcade where she wins a shooting game and gets Ki Seon-gyeom a stuffed animal to bring to Kim Woo-shik (who is still in the hospital). Before they part ways, Oh Mi-joo asks Ki Seon-gyeom about the kiss yesterday. When he bluntly tells her that he was drunk and would kiss anyone his way, she leaves him angrily and punches a punching bag at the arcade. At the hospital, Ki Seon-gyeom meets Kim Woo-shik's grandmother. She is concerned for Kim Woo-shik and worries why he won't tell her where he got his bruises from. Kim Woo-shik tells Ki Seon-gyeom that he won't be able to run again for a while and that he won't be able to attend the off-season training at Jeju (a Korean island). When Kim Woo-shik tells him that he can take the blame, as it was partially his fault, Ki Seon-gyeom tells him not to, since he will be retiring soon and Kim Woo-shik is a rising star. Ki Seon-gyeom reveals his disappointment that he wasn't able to save him, but Kim Woo-shik thanks him anyway. Later, Ki Seon-gyeom, his mother, and his sister complain about Ki Seon-gyeom's father "using" them to promote his campaign. However, to the public, the family relations appear to be fine. When the family eats together, Ki Seon-gyeom's mother accuses of his father disliking him, and at one point Ki Seon-gyeom's father throws a cup at his son's face. When Ki Seon-gyeom leaves the table in frustration, his sister runs after him, and gives him japchae (korean noodle dish) that the cooks had prepared for him. He eats alone, and accidentally meets Oh Mi-joo, who was at the pharmaceutical for her paper cut. She finds a scar on his face from when his father threw the cup at him and helps him put the ointment on. However, when he sees her paper cut, he stops her and puts the ointment on her. Meanwhile, Lee Young-hwa tutors a high school girl, and they bicker when she asks him "when was your first love?" Later, Seo Dan-ah runs into Ki Seon-gyeom's sister at the gym and when she asks to wear clothes from her brand, Ki Seon-gyeom's sister angrily lashes out that Seo Dan-ah is just "using" her brother. Meanwhile, at the hearing, Ki Seon-gyeom gets frustrated when the disciplinary committee refuses to enact justice. He later finds out that their coaches refused to hand in Kim Woo-shik's evidence that his older teammates had assaulted him. When Ki Seon-gyeom confronts his teammates, they express no remorse at what they had done. That night, Oh Mi-joo meets with Ki Seon-gyeom's father who tells her to "sugarcoat everything" his son says, and to report to him everything his son does. He gives her an envelope filled with cash and she leaves the meeting with mixed feelings. The next day, Oh Mi-joo accompanies Ki Seon-gyeom and his sister to the track team's off-season training at Jeju island. At the interview, Oh Mi-joo interrupts the interviewer, who had only been asking questions to Ki Seon-gyeom's sister and not Ki Seon-gyeom. Ki Seon-gyeom finds her behavior to be "cool" and his sister tells him to "treat her well." Back at her room, Oh Mi-joo reflects on her meeting with Ki Seon-gyeom's father and admits she finds him to be rude. She tries to return the envelope to him, she fails. When she goes for a walk outside, Ki Seon-gyeom runs after her, accidentally startling her. They talk after his run, and she finds out about the assault incident. She tells him to stop running if he doesn't have a motive to. Meanwhile, when the rest of the track team and Seo Dan-ah arrive at Jeju, Seo Dan-ah makes a remark about her manager's sunglasses that is similar to a remark her youngest brother made the day before. Her manager realizes the siblings aren't as different as they think they are. When Ki Seon-gyeom finds Kim Woo-shik on the island despite being injured, Kim Woo-shik reveals that he is more relieved than disappointed that no one was punished. Ki Seon-gyeom meets with Seo Dan-ah, and he tells her he "was never angry with her," but he will "continue being mad" at his teammates. At the track, Ki Seon-gyeom finds his father bribing his teammates not to mention anything about the assault. Oh Mi-joo watches Ki Seon-gyeom running and thinks to herself that he seems to be struggling, despite being wealthy and famous. When practice begins, Ki Seon-gyeom doesn't run and realizes that it was his choice not to run in the first place. He tells the reporters he can't run and that he assaulted the junior members of his team.
Witnessing Ki Seon-gyeom's confession in the stands, Seo Dan-ah tells her manager to dump water on the reporters' gear. The coach tells the reporters that Ki Seon-gyeom had only disciplined his teammates, and that he had acted out due to relationship stress. Ki Seon-gyeom's father stops Ki Seon-gyeom and Oh Mi-joo. He is furious that Oh Mi-joo didn't "sugarcoat" his son's words and that Ki Seon-gyeom would "ruin his political career." Ki Seon-gyeom and his father argue again, with his father finally telling him "I don't want to see your face." They leave, but not before running into Seo Dan-ah. She tells him that she can clean up his mess, and that his photo shoot will not be cancelled. When Ki Seon-gyeom's father confronts Seo Dan-ah, he reveals to her that he attempted to influence Oh Mi-joo to control his son. Seo Dan-ah leaves, but not before reminding him that he is also "using" his son for his campaign. Seo Dan-ah's manager stops a foreign journalist from bombarding Kim Woo-shik and takes him to Seo Dan-ah, who wants to see him. Ki Seon-gyeom's father confronts the head coach and the teammates. In addition to blowing up at the head coach and the teammates, he kicks the head coach when he addresses him informally. Seo Dan-ah waits to meet with Kim Woo-shik. It is revealed by her conversation with her manager that she is hiding an illness. Later, she takes Kim Woo-shik to meet with a group of foreign reporters. Meanwhile, Seo Dan-ah's youngest brother stays in Seo Dan-ah's office and notices Lee Young-hwa's painting on her desk. Lee Young-hwa, who was told to meet with her, is standing in front of her office building. Seo Dan-ah's youngest brother goes out to confront him, and they bicker. Lee Young-hwa quickly gets annoyed at Seo Dan-ah's youngest brother's nosy questions. He leaves, but he also accidentally drops his wallet. Back at Jeju, Oh Mi-joo and Ki Seon-gyeom share a meal together. Ki Seon-gyeom tells her that although he won't be able to run as a national athlete, he is more worried that he will not be able to coach the track and field team at a local Christian school when he retires. He reveals that he doesn't regret ruining his career to help Kim Woo-shik. Both Oh Mi-joo and Ki Seon-gyeom hint that they are interested in each other. In Ki Seon-gyeom's car and at his photoshoot, Oh Mi-joo expresses her disbelief in the rumors about him in the media. Oh Mi-joo meets Ki Seon-gyeom's father's manager, and she returns the money he gave her when she first began. In order to prevent Ki Seon-gyeom from getting "bashed by the public," Seo Dan-ah recruits Kim Woo-shik, who she believes can improve Ki Seon-gyeom's situation. Ki Seon-gyeom privately tells Oh Mi-joo to omit any details about him assaulting the teammates for bullying Kim Woo-shik. She refuses, as this will further ruin Ki Seon-gyeom's reputation. Before they go, she tells Ki Seon-gyeom to "start taking better care of yourself." After the interview with Kim Woo-shik, Ki Seon-gyeom asks Oh Mi-joo if she liked him. She says yes, but she leaves him to go to Seoul (a city in Korea). That night, she drinks alone in her bedroom. The next morning, Ki Seon-gyeom leaves Jeju, but not before telling Kim Woo-shik that Kim Woo-shik should not follow in his footsteps. Meanwhile, Lee Young-hwa and Seo Dan-ah finally meet, although Lee Young-hwa falls in the office pool when Seo Dan-ah scares him. He finds her to be rude yet beautiful, and she rejects his efforts to please her. However, in compensation for breaking her bracelet, she requests he paint her a picture. He refuses good-naturedly and leaves, but not before bumping into Seo Dan-ah's youngest brother again. Meanwhile, a female boxer at Ki Seon-gyeom's training center sits with Ki Seon-gyeom at lunch. She tells him that he is too passive and that rumors about him are spreading fast. Ki Seon-gyeom is kicked out of the training center and he officially decides to quit track. That afternoon, Seo Dan-ah and Oh Mi-joo meet at a cafe. Seo Dan-ah continues verbally harassing Oh Mi-joo, and when asked why she agreed to work for Ki Seon-gyeom's father, Oh Mi-joo responds that she pities Ki Seon-gyeom. Eventually, Seo Dan-ah tells her that Seo Dan-ah was the last person Ki Seon-gyeom had ever liked. Oh Mi-joo is visibly upset and she leaves. She calls Ki Seon-gyeom to give her back her lighter. She meets him at his home (a hotel room) and he unexpectedly asks her if his father gave her money. She tells him that she accepted his money.
Before Oh Mi-joo and Ki Seon-gyeom met at the hotel, Ki Seon-gyeom's mother's assistant tells him that his father paid Oh Mi-joo to report everything his son did to him. Ki Seon-gyeom is visibly upset, but tells the assistant that in his eyes, the assistant seems to be the "bad guy." The scene flashes forward to the present, where Oh Mi-joo tells Ki Seon-gyeom that she took his father's money. Ki Seon-gyeom tells her that even though he hates bribes, he won't forget how kind her "fake" consolations were to him. Oh Mi-joo tells him to hate and forget her. Although she regularly takes bribes, she hates herself for doing it. Ki Seon-gyeom agrees to give back her lighter, on the condition that she doesn't forget that there was anything between them. Oh Mi-joo leaves, but they both resort to pills and/or alcohol to relieve their stress. At church, Ki Seon-gyeom's father fakes remorse at "not being a better father". Afterwards, Ki Seon-gyeom's mother tells him "you're a better actor than I am." Meanwhile, a lady at the christian school of the track team Ki Seon-gyeom promised to coach tells Ki Seon-gyeom that he will not be able to coach the team because of the assault. In her office, Seo Dan-ah receives a list from her wealthy father, who tells her to get married. Seeing that Ki Seon-gyeom is on this list, she muses that marrying Ki Seon-gyeom would solve her "marital issue". Even so, her manager points out that Ki Seon-gyeom would likely refuse. At the art school, Lee Young-hwa casually tells his friend that he is interested in Seo Dan-ah. He daydreams while helping children draw pictures at the park. Later, that day, Oh Mi-joo finds out there's a rumor going around that she got her translating job because she dated the director of the film. She receives a wedding invite that will take place at Ki Seon-gyeom's hotel. Despite trying to convince herself that she doesn't want to go, she still goes. On her way to the hotel, she notices that all the advertisements with Ki Seon-gyeom on them had been taken down. At the hotel, she meets with her friends and one of them mercilessly reveals to the others how Oh Mi-joo had to stay in foster care since her parents were gone. She leaves, and again bumps into Ki Seon-gyeom. They both admit they had lied to each other in order for them to stay together and continue talking. Lee Young-hwa's friend takes Lee Young-hwa to see Seo Dan-ah. Seo Dan-ah laughs when Lee Young-hwa tries to pay her back for her broken bracelet. She flaunts her status over him and dismisses him. Later, Seo Dan-ah meets her other brother, who insists she get married to increase family business. He reveals she tried to pretend she was lesbian and tells her that she will never be a CEO. She retorts that he is an illegitimate child. Her brother kicks her manager when she leaves. That night, Seo Dan-ah goes to a cafe and looks at Lee Young-hwa's paintings again. Lee Young-hwa watches her from a cafe window and sketches her looking at his paintings. When his friend sees him sketching, Lee Young-hwa leaves and goes to the local jewelry shop to fix Seo Dan-ah's bracelet. He discovers that is nearly $9000 and he cannot get it fixed there. Meanwhile, Oh Mi-joo and Ki Seon-gyeom unexpectedly meet at Kim Woo-shik's grandmother's friend's restaurant, and they soon realize that Kim Woo-shik had called them both individually to eat dinner together. The next moment, Ki Seon-gyeom receives a text from Kim Woo-shik, who says he can't make it to dinner. Kim Woo-shik tells them he wants them to "make up over some good food". They reconcile and get back on friendly terms. Before leaving the restaurant, Oh Mi-joo notices a banner outside the restaurant congratulating Kim Woo-shik on making the national track team. She tells Ki Seon-gyeom that it was good Kim Woo-shik met him. However, on her way home, she realizes that articles with interviews of Kim Woo-shik's were being released. She hurries home in order to translate them and release them to the Korean public as fast as possible. She wants to clear Ki Seon-gyeom's name. She stays up translating them, and the next morning, she distributes and shares the articles. The articles go viral, but Kim Woo-shik also announces that due to the amount of bullying he endured, he doesn't want to do sports either. When Ki Seon-gyeom finds out from Oh Mi-joo's translation of the interviews, he immediately goes to her house and asks her why she or Kim Woo-shik didn't tell him that Kim Woo-shik was quitting, earlier. Oh Mi-joo tells Ki Seon-gyeom that even if he wasn't aware of it, Ki Seon-gyeom was already extremely stressed and telling him would only add to his stress. He realizes Oh Mi-joo is right, and she comforts him with a hug as he cries.
The next morning, people gossip about the new articles and the public's opinion of Ki Seon-gyeom improves overnight. Seo Dan-ah is relieved about this at the hospital, as she gets the diagnosis for her illness. The older teammates that bullied Kim Woo-shik are avoided by the atheletes at the training center, and they are sent to complete their compulsory military service. Ki Seon-gyeom requests a fair ruling of the case by the athletic department, so instead of being suspended for 6 months, he is banned from track. He unexpectedly announces his retirement and leaves the court, now unemployed. He leaves his home at the hotel, and instead lets Kim Woo-shik take his place there with his grandmother. At the cafe where she studies, Oh Mi-joo encounters Seo Dan-ah again. Seo Dan-ah again insensitively picks a fight with her and they bicker. Later, Ki Seon-gyeom comes to the cafe for a meeting with Seo Dan-ah. Oh Mi-joo is surprised to see him, and she eavesdrops on their conversation. Seo Dan-ah cancels Ki Seon-gyeom's with her agency, as he is quitting track. She says she has "no use for him". In Oh Mi-joo's sight, she grabs his hand and insists he stay at her apartment. Oh Mi-joo and Seo Dan-ah fight over where Ki Seon-gyeom will stay. Ki Seon-gyeom sees he doesn't have a say in this. Afterwards, Oh Mi-joo follows Seo Dan-ah to her car, and Oh Mi-joo asks why she keeps on toying with her. Seo Dan-ah responds that she fought with her because she "came to the decision that the person best suited to care for him is" Oh Mi-joo. Ki Seon-gyeom finally asks Oh Mi-joo if he could stay at her house for a few days. She agrees, and he stays. Since she stays up during the night to finish work, he makes her dinner. He also picks up Oh Mi-joo's housemate from her workplace. At her family's home, Seo Dan-ah eats dinner with her father and other brother. She and her brother bicker about the paintings in the house gallery and her father asks if she had yet found a husband. The next morning, Ki Seon-gyeom's father finds out about his son's unexpected retirement. Meanwhile, at the grocery store, Ki Seon-gyeom runs into Lee Young-hwa. They remember each other, and they meet each other formally. Lee Young-hwa jokingly calls him "hyung" (means older brother) when Ki Seon-gyeom pays for his groceries. When Ki Seon-gyeom returns, he finds Oh Mi-joo neglecting to take care of her health again. He makes sure she at least eats before working. The next day, Oh Mi-joo joins Ki Seon-gyeom on his morning jog, and he teaches her how to jog efficiently. Later, Ki Seon-gyeom finds out he is on Seo Dan-ah's blind dating list. At her office building, Seo Dan-ah returns from a series of blind dates and kicks her brother when she sees him. Lee Young-hwa goes to her office and although he still refuses to paint something for her, he consents when he finds out that it will be displayed in an art gallery. He returns the robe she lent him and also gives her an envelope with $500 and a jar of honey from his mother's bee farm. She doesn't trust him and she checks the ingredients of the honey before she eats any of it. Meanwhile, Ki Seon-gyeom prepares to ask a favor from his former legendary track coach. He asks Oh Mi-joo to come with him, since he is nervous. The next day they head out to the track coach's home in the countryside. However, when Ki Seon-gyeom asks the coach to take over his position at the Christian school track team she aggressively refuses. When Oh Mi-joo, who at this point is extremely drunk, asks her why she refused, the coach kicks them out of her home. Oh Mi-joo nearly passes out in Ki Seon-gyeom's car but when he says he'll go look for a hotel, she immediately grabs his hand and tells him not to leave. She says she is afraid he'd disappear and that she wishes she could see him more often. When he tells her he'd do everything he could to make sure she had everything she needed, she asks him "can you like me"? He quietly responds "I already do".
Ki Seon-gyeom and Oh Mi-joo sleep outside Ki Seon-gyeom's coach's house in Ki Seon-gyeom's car. The coach suddenly invites them for a meal in her house. Ki Seon-gyeom gets a flashback of how he had known his coach in the past. She was kind to him, but she frequently beat up the other coaches. It is hinted that they made advances towards her, so she left her position coaching track. Oh Mi-joo convinces the coach that she would be a good candidate to take Ki Seon-gyeom's position as the track coach at the christian school. Oh Mi-joo even tells her she'll take her out to drink, even though Oh Mi-joo's head hurts from drinking the day before. Later, Lee Young-hwa bumps into Ki Seon-gyeom, who is going to Seo Dan-a's office. Lee Young-hwa begs to go with him, and he gets into Ki Seon-gyeom's car before he can complain. At the office building, Lee Young-hwa reveals that he accidentally put an envelope with $500 and is embarrassed to ask for it back. At the cafe, Oh Mi-joo takes a translating gig from her friend and as a small gift, her friend gives her two tickets to a movie. Meanwhile, Ki Seon-gyeom's father schemes to match his son with Seo Dan-a. Seo Dan-a receives a movie ticket from Ki Seon-gyeom's father. Oh Mi-joo meets with Kim Woo-shik at a book store. He thinks she's very cool and continuously stands up for Ki Seon-gyeom. When Ki Seon-gyeom goes to pick up clothes at his family's home, he runs into his dad. His dad tells him his plans to marry him off to Seo Dan-a, and he refuses. However, before he leaves, his father gives him a movie ticket and tells him to be there. On his way to his new home at Oh Mi-joo's house, he meets with Oh Mi-joo. She tells him to use his regrets to "turn [them] into something better". Meanwhile, while he was stalking Lee Young-hwa on social media, Seo Dan-a's brother finds out that he accidentally friended Lee Young-hwa. At Lee Young-hwa's art school, everyone goes crazy when they see that Seo Dan-a's kpop star brother follows Lee Young-hwa. Seo Dan-a finds out from her brother's complaints the name of the "kid" she asked for a painting from is Lee Young-hwa. On his way home from school, Lee Young-hwa sees Ki Seon-gyeom, who is sad that Oh Mi-joo is taking the translation gig, and therefore, will not be home. They drink at Lee Young-hwa's home. Ki Seon-gyeom reveals to Lee Young-hwa that he plans to move out when Oh Mi-joo won't be home. He says although he really enjoyed his time there, he "doesn't want to be alone". When Lee Young-hwa gives Ki Seon-gyeom jars of honey, Ki Seon-gyeom gives him tells him the movie ticket his father gave him. At the movie, Lee Young-hwa will be sitting next to Seo Dan-a. He sleeps over at Lee Young-hwa's house that night. When he wakes up, he finds Lee Young-hwa sleeping on the floor, as he let Ki Seon-gyeom on the only bed in his house. The next morning, Oh Mi-joo is extremely concerned when she doesn't see Ki Seon-gyeom at home. When Ki Seon-gyeom comes back home, she suspects he "crashed the night" at so meone else's house. She is very upset and she ignores him the whole day. The next day, Ki Seon-gyeom, Oh Mi-joo, and Ki Seon-gyeom's coach go to the christian school. Oh Mi-joo still remains very upset that she stayed the whole night awake worrying whether Ki Seon-gyeom was safe, but she bonds with the coach over drinks. Despite her initial objections, the coach also agrees to coach the track team at the school. After practice, Oh Mi-joo angrily confronts Ki Seon-gyeom. She tells him she allowed him to stay at her house, and he keeps on worrying her. She leaves him on the field, frustrated. Lee Young-hwa finds Seo Dan-a waiting for him by her car at his school. He is surprised and stares at her for a while. When he asks about her relationship with the kpop star who friended him on social media, she tells him they had a love affair. When she tells him to "stop crossing the line", he says "no" since he knew that "crossing the line" would make her angry enough to talk to him. They talk and Seo Dan-a unexpectedly reveals to Lee Young-hwa that she wanted to be a soccer player. He tells her "it's really great to learn more about you" and his sole dream was to talk directly to Seo Dan-a and not through her manager. At the movie theater, Oh Mi-joo finds out her housemate gave her ticket to to watch a movie with Oh Mi-joo to Ki Seon-gyeom. They happen to watch the movie that Ki Seon-gyeom's parents, Seo Dan-a, and Lee Young-hwa will watch. At the theater, Ki Seon-gyeom's mother gets angry when she finds out that her husband plans to match her son and Seo Dan-a. Ki Seon-gyeom and Oh Mi-joo bump into Ki Seon-gyeom's parents. Ki Seon-gyeom's father tells Oh Mi-joo that his son's reason for why he came to watch the movie was so he could watch it with Seo Dan-a. Oh Mi-joo consents but she takes Ki Seon-gyeom with her, in full view of Ki Seon-gyeom's parents. Ki Seon-gyeom smiles as he follows her.
At the theater, Lee Young-hwa finds that Seo Dan-a gave her ticket to her manager. After the movie, Lee Young-hwa confronts Ki Seon-gyeom and Oh Mi-joo. They quickly find out they all know each other and Oh Mi-joo also finds out that Ki Seon-gyeom had spent the night at Lee Young-hwa's house. They go out for drinks and Ki Seon-gyeom third wheels as Oh Mi-joo and Lee Young-hwa talk about the movie. When their conversation suddenly arrives at the topic of Seo Dan-a, Lee Young-hwa gets defensive and convinces Ki Seon-gyeom to give him Seo Dan-a's number. They all exchange numbers. However, even after the friendly meeting with Lee Young-hwa, Oh Mi-joo is still angry with Ki Seon-gyeom. The next morning, Oh Mi-joo and Lee Young-hwa relax at the cafe together. They complain about student debt and work. Lee Young-hwa gets messages on social media asking him why a kpop star (Seo Dan-a's youngest brother) follows him. Meanwhile, Seo Dan-a and her business partner talk at the gym. Her business partner criticizes her for terminating the contract with Ki Seon-gyeom but Seo Dan-a responds that even though she was fond of him, her business is more important to her. When Seo Dan-a returns home, her father criticizes her for kicking her brother in public. He tells her she should have done it in private. Seo Dan-a, her brother, and her father fight. Seo Dan-a leaves when she sees her father's second wife preparing her mother's memorial (funeral) service. Before she goes, her father tells her that marriage will "set [her] straight". It is clear that their family is dysfunctional and that, similar to Ki Seon-gyeom's family, they appear to be fine in public. Seo Dan-a's youngest brother meets Seo Dan-a at her car. When he brings her rice cakes, she asks him why he keeps on meeting her when she already made it clear that she hates him. He tells her that unlike the other family members, she doesn't ignore him. Even so, she drives away and asks him why he was even born. When he is alone, he asks himself "What's the point of living". Seo Dan-a drives to the cafe for coffee and she stares at Lee Young-hwa's paintings through the windows. At Oh Mi-joo's house, Oh Mi-joo and her housemate leave for their business trip. Oh Mi-joo is still angry at Ki Seon-gyeom, although he makes enough food for them for two days. Ki Seon-gyeom goes to Seo Dan-a's office building to meet with her business partner. He thanks her business partner for giving her his coach's phone number. Seo Dan-a walks into the room to meet with her business partner. She sees Ki Seon-gyeom and asks him to marry her, since he liked her before. He interrupts her, saying he never did. Meanwhile, Oh Mi-joo and her housemate arrive at their destination safely. Back at Oh Mi-joo's home, Ki Seon-gyeom does chores to pass the time. Before she goes to sleep that night, Oh Mi-joo wonders if Ki Seon-gyeom is doing all right. At her home, Ki Seon-gyeom has difficulty sleeping. The next morning, Ki Seon-gyeom meets his mother at a movie shoot. They talk, and she reveals to him how she thought that kids were easy to raise, since Ki Seon-gyeom was so obedient. When he asks her why she married his father, she tells him she loved him. Oh Mi-joo reveals that she feels less frustrated towards Ki Seon-gyeom when she answers his text. Meanwhile, one of the older teammates who bullied Kim Woo-shik expresses remorse at what he did. He calls Kim Woo-shik, and they silently reconcile. The next day, Lee Young-hwa kicks a soccer ball towards Seo Dan-a. They bicker, but Lee Young-hwa cleverly plays back her insults. At the scene, Oh Mi-joo works hard at translating live. She overworks. When the main actor of the film demands a driver who can driver his boyfriend, Oh Mi-joo remembers that Ki Seon-gyeom. She calls him and he drives over the next morning. She is angry at herself for only talking to him when she needs him. The next morning, Oh Mi-joo finds that her head hurts a lot, and she heads to the hospital. Ki Seon-gyeom finds her tearing up in the hospital. When he asks her why she is crying, she tells him that just seeing him gives her comfort. On the way to the motel near the movie scene, Ki Seon-gyeom tells Oh Mi-joo that she called for her mom. She says that when she was younger she had meningitis. When saw the other sick kids in the hospital crying for their mom, she imitated them. She reveals to him that her parents passed away what she was little. When they arrive at the motel, Ki Seon-gyeom is appalled at the dirty state of the room. He moves the entire producer team and Oh Mi-joo to a nearby clean hotel. Oh Mi-joo rests in the hotel as Ki Seon-gyeom moves her belongings and wipes her arms with a cool cloth. When Oh Mi-joo quietly calls out for her mom, Ki Seon-gyeom tells her to call his name instead. He tells her to "call out to someone who can be here for you now on". She tells him he needs to hold her hand, and he does.
The next morning, the producer team personally thanks Ki Seon-gyeom for moving them to a better hotel. Ki Seon-gyeom and Oh Mi-joo eat breakfast together. During their conversation, Ki Seon-gyeom tells her that she looks pretty today, just as she did when she was sick. He also tells her that he agreed to the job without knowing much about because he knew he would be near her. When Oh Mi-joo takes Ki Seon-gyeom to meet the main actor's boyfriend, the main actor tells Oh Mi-joo to be careful, as "she is cute, he is hot". Ki Seon-gyeom drives them to the shoot. While he waits for the actor to finish the shoot, Ki Seon-gyeom sits alone and tries to write in a diary. Oh Mi-joo visits him during her breaks. After the shoot, Ki Seon-gyeom still tries to write in a diary. He doesn't know how to, until Oh Mi-joo tells him that his diary is only for himself. When she leaves, he writes that his job is uncomfortable, and that he was scared when Oh Mi-joo got sick. Meanwhile, Lee Young-hwa finds out from his friend that the students at his school are talking about him meeting Seo Dan-a. He also finds out that Seo Dan-a is the executive director of a large company. At her office, Seo Dan-a takes down a portrait of Ki Seon-gyeom. She plans to replace him with his golf champion sister. The teammate who bullied Kim Woo-shik talks to Ki Seon-gyeom. They silently reconcile. When Ki Seon-gyeom leaves to drive, Oh Mi-joo and the teammate talk. He tells her that she'd lasted longer than the other girls who chased after Ki Seon-gyeom. That night, the main actor gets into a fight, and the next morning, Oh Mi-joo and the producer team worry that he and his boyfriend had left the hotel. They find Ki Seon-gyeom driving them to the scene, even though the actor requested that he drive them to the station. When the director curses at the producer team and makes racial insults, Oh Mi-joo curses back at him. The actor in the car applauds her, as she refuses to apologize. Unexpectedly, Ki Seon-gyeom's father appears at the scene. He talks to Oh Mi-joo and tells her that she is just a "passing moment" in his son's life. For her behavior with the director, the cinematographer attempts to fire her. That night, Oh Mi-joo drinks alone but Ki Seon-gyeom joins her. He brings shot glasses and food. She thanks him for driving her and "taking care of a drunk like me". When she complains about work, he tells her to stop doing things she doesn't want to do. She is suddenly motivated by Ki Seon-gyeom, and continues work the next day. After the last day of filming, Oh Mi-joo's friend warmly thanks her. On his run, Ki Seon-gyeom finds Oh Mi-joo staring out at the ocean. They talk, but after, he reveals to her that he will be moving from her house. She is upset that he told her this so abruptly, and that right when they had gotten very close, he pushed her away. They leave the filming site their separate ways. Ki Seon-gyeom answers Kim Woo-shik's call in the car. Kim Woo-shik finally has the courage to meet him in person (he was afraid he disappointed Ki Seon-gyeom for quitting track), and they agree to meet the next day. Meanwhile, Lee Young-hwa finds Seo Dan-a at the cafe. He realizes he felt like he was "suffocating" because he wanted to see her. However, when she demands the painting from him, he tells her he is balancing school and her work. When she says that he shouldn't have become a student, he responds that she has "garbage empathy skills". When she asks "Am I at least recyclable", he quietly laughs and says "you're cute", but leaves. That night, Seo Dan-a stays awake thinking how "rude" Lee Young-hwa was to her, even though she catches herself smiling when she thinks of him. The next day, Ki Seon-gyeom helps out at Kim Woo-shik's grandmother's job. Ki Seon-gyeom and Kim Woo-shik clean windows together. When Kim Woo-shik says to Ki Seon-gyeom that no matter where he competes, people only see him as a whistleblower. He reveals that he is often shunned and is considering becoming a government worker. However, Ki Seon-gyeom tells him to do something he likes, rather than pleasing others. In her office, Seo Dan-a throws away the jar of honey Lee Young-hwa gaver her. She also visits her brother in the hospital. They argue about the gallery again, and she tells him that she doesn't care about such "trivial" things. He tells her to grow up, and since he is allergic to flowers, she throws him a bouquet. She immediately goes to Lee Young-hwa's studio. She again, demands him to give her her painting. When he says "I'm not a vending machine", she asks him "why not?" He quickly finds out that Seo Dan-a was planning to use his paintings to "save face". He gets frustrated that she complains he is wasting her time, when he sacrificed his sleep to paint her painting. He takes a wet palette and ruins her painting. He tells her that she had done the damage.
