Konstantinos D. Polyzos

I am a Postdoctoral Fellow at Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science, University of California San Diego, under the supervision of Prof. Tara Javidi. I obtained my Ph.D. degree at the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of University of Minnesota, under the supervision of Prof. Georgios B. Giannakis. Before that, I obtained my diploma at the Electrical and Computer Engineering department of University of Patras, Greece in Sep. 2018. 

My research interests span the areas of machine learning, statistical signal processing, network science and data science. In my Ph.D. I've been working on learning, inferring and optimizing with just a few data. Specifically, I've been developing and leveraging active- , transfer- , and self-supervised learning and Bayesian optimization methods to learn and/or optimize when only a few input-output data are available due to privacy concerns or high sampling costs, with application to healthcare, 5G networks and robotics.

Feb. 2025:  I was invited to give a talk at the "AI for Autonomous Robot Systems" session of the 2025 Information Theory and Applications Workshop!

Dec. 2024: I was invited to give a talk at the Unit of Medical Technology and Intelligent Information Systems, Dept. of Material Science & Engineering of the University of Ioannina, Greece! 

Sep. 2024: Our paper "Bayesian Active Learning for Sample Efficient 5G Radio Map Reconstruction" is accepted by IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications journal!

Sep. 2024: Our paper "Ensembles of Informative Representations for Self-Supervised Learning" (coauthored with Profs. P. A. Traganitis, M. K. Singh, and G. B. Giannakis) won the Best Paper Award (second place) at IEEE MLSP 2024! 

Aug. 2024: Our paper "Weighted Ensembles for Adaptive Active Learning" is accepted by IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing journal!

July 2024: Our paper "Active labeling for online ensemble learning" (coauthored with Profs. Q. Lu and G. B. Giannakis) won the Best Student Paper Award at IEEE SAM 2024! 

May 2024: I defended my Ph.D. dissertation!
