Hello, and welcome to my academic website. I hope you will find it useful.
My name is Konstantin Bogatyrev. I am an LSE Fellow in the Department of Government at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and an affiliated faculty member at the LSE Data Science Institute. I hold a PhD in Public Policy from Bocconi University (2025, cum laude).
My research investigates how citizens hold governments accountable for policy-making in illiberal settings, including governments pursuing authoritarian or exclusionary agendas. I show how crises, immigration, and state-sponsored discrimination shape voter behaviour in these contexts, using survey experiments, causal inference with observational data, and text-as-data approaches. Regionally, I mostly focus my research on countries in Europe and the European Neighbourhood. Two papers from my PhD dissertation are now forthcoming in The Journal of Politics and Political Analysis.
At LSE, I teach courses on European Union politics and political behaviour at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. I also supervise student dissertations, convene the weekly Political Behaviour Seminar, and co-organise workshops on behavioural political economy and on illiberal and authoritarian politics.
I hope, this website will help you get to know me and my work better. Besides, please feel welcome to contact me in person and follow me on LinkedIn or BlueSky.
