Hello, and welcome to my academic website. My name is Konstantin Bogatyrev. I am an LSE Fellow in the Department of Government at the London School of Economics and Political Science, and an affiliated faculty member at the LSE Data Science Institute. I hold a PhD in Public Policy from Bocconi University (2025, cum laude).

My research investigates how citizens hold governments accountable for policy-making in illiberal settings, including governments pursuing authoritarian or exclusionary agendas. I show how crises, immigration, and state-sponsored discrimination shape voter behaviour in Europe, Turkey and post-Soviet Eurasia, using survey experiments, causal inference with observational data, and text-as-data approaches. My work appears in The Journal of Politics, Political Analysis and Scientific Data.

I currently hold a British Academy/Leverhulme Small Research Grant and an LSE Seed Research Fund grant, supporting my work on regime evaluations and democratic attitudes.

At LSE, I convene an undergraduate course on European Union politics and teach political behaviour to MSc students. I also supervise student dissertations and co-organise seminars and workshops on behavioural political economy and on illiberal and authoritarian politics.
