Modern Design
● It was a reaction to the Industrial Revolution and World War 1

Contemporary Design
● Translates literally into “of the moment” or current
● It is not interchangeable with Modern but is surely inspired by the principles of Modern design
● It is reflective of the cultural nuances of right now in materials, forms, technology, and construction
● Neo-futurism and Sustainable Design are a few styles that fit under the Contemporary designs
Does traditional design have to be old?
It is also a common misconception that tradition automatically means old. It’s time to break the myth. The traditional style is rooted in certain movements, places, and time periods, like Federalist or Dutch Colonial, without necessarily involving antiques.

● This design is characterized by fine woodwork and ornamental details, including crown molding and wainscoting
