The task of each Knights of Columbus Council is to summon men to what Evangelii Gaudium 89 calls: a "fraternal communion and missionary fruitfulness." Catholic men more than ever are aware of the spiritual battle they must engage in everyday, in order to stay faithful to their vows and lead their families. The Knights of Columbus provides men with a formation in charity, spiritual leadership, and faith formation throughout the various stages of their vocations, as men at the heart of the family and for others.
The year was 2016 when our Pastor, Father Patrick Kirsch, had expressed his desire for the Catholic Community of St. Oscar Romero to establish a Council of their own. It was at this time that Father Pat asked Knight Brian Clarkson, if he would take on the task of forming a Council for the Eastvale community. Within the same year, the Knights of Columbus Council #16570 was formed. Soon afterwards, Knight Richard Contreras was named the Council's first Grand Knight, and Knight Peter McGowan was tabbed as the the first Membership Chair. Together they worked conjointly to undertake this mission.
The support received since the start of this endeavor has been extraordinary, and continues to be so. In 2 years time, the Knights of Columbus Council #16570 now has more than 80 members, and has already achieved Star Council status. Past Grand Knight Richard Contreras served as Grand Knight of this Council from 2016-2018 with distinction. In 2018, Knight Peter McGowan was elected as this Council's second Grand Knight, who continues a tradition of excellence and service to others. We are truly blessed to serve and be connected to the members and families of this community.
