Welcome to my personal webpage!
I am Birgul Koc, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Seville, Spain, currently supported by the EIDIA Fellowship 2024. My research focuses on applied mathematics, numerical analysis, and reduced order modeling (ROM), with particular emphasis on turbulent flows, closure modeling, and data-driven variational multiscale methods.
Over the past years, I have developed novel residual-based and data-driven ROM techniques for convection-dominated systems, porous media transport problems, and incompressible flows, collaborating with leading researchers at Virginia Tech, IFPEN, and University of Seville. My work bridges numerical analysis, computational modeling, and machine learning approaches to improve the accuracy and efficiency of simulations in fluid mechanics.
I am always excited about collaborations and advancing numerical methods that make complex simulations more reliable and computationally efficient.
