I am actively looking for MS, PhD, MS/PhD students as well as Post Docs who are interested in learning how to apply AI and Deep Learning techniques to cloud and complex distributed systems. The mission of our lab is to develop advanced techniques for managing large-scale distributed systems in cloud environments. Our research areas include:
Deep learning–based diagnosis and troubleshooting of cloud system problems
AI-driven log analysis for anomaly detection
Cloud security, with a particular focus on container security
IoT, fog, and edge computing
System resource monitoring for accounting and performance management
We aim to develop techniques that support the reliable operation of distributed software components across large-scale distributed systems composed of many computing nodes. Our research begins with a deep understanding of system states through both theoretical and empirical analysis. Building on this foundation, we actively incorporate cutting-edge methods from other fields to address our challenges.
As a result, our work requires a strong foundation not only in operating systems, computer architecture, and distributed systems, but also in data mining, artificial intelligence (AI), and deep learning (DL). The volume of data generated by large-scale cloud systems is far too vast for manual processing. Therefore, we focus on building automated data processing pipelines that can effectively analyze and make sense of this machine-generated data.
In addition, we conduct research in several closely related areas, including big data processing, query processing, data mining, natural language processing (NLP), statistics, artificial intelligence (AI), deep learning (DL), data visualization, and information retrieval.

CLODIS Lab에서는 클라우드 및 대규모 시스템 분야의 연구를 함께 수행할 석사 및 박사과정 학생을 모집합니다. 최근 인공지능 기술의 빠른 발전과 함께, 인공지능 및 딥러닝 기법을 활용하여 클라우드 시스템의 문제를 해결하는 연구가 활발히 진행되고 있으며 큰 주목을 받고 있습니다.
우리 연구실은 인공지능/딥러닝 기법 자체의 개발보다는, 이러한 기법들을 실제 클라우드 시스템의 문제 해결에 효과적으로 적용하여 문제들을 해결하는 방법을 찾는 연구에 중점을 두고 있습니다. 최신 인공지능 및 딥러닝 기술을 깊이 있게 이해하고, 이를 클라우드 시스템의 분석과 문제 해결에 적용하여 우수한 연구 성과를 내고자 하는 열정적인 학생들의 많은 지원을 바랍니다.
현재 산업계에서는 대규모 클라우드 시스템 기반의 서비스들이 빠른 속도로 확산되고 있으며, 이 분야의 취업 기회는 전체 IT 산업의 약 40%를 차지하는 것으로 알려져 있습니다. 특히 인공지능 알고리즘 자체의 연구보다, 이를 실제 문제에 적용할 수 있는 실전 역량을 가진 인재에 대한 수요가 크게 증가하고 있습니다. 이에 CLODIS Lab은 졸업 후 높은 경쟁력을 갖출 수 있도록, 클라우드 시스템 분석 및 보안 등의 분야에서 딥러닝, 자연어 처리(NLP), 정보이론, 빅데이터 처리 등 다양한 최신 기법을 적극적으로 연구에 적용하고 있습니다.
