About The Course: Department of Political Science is going to organize an Add-on Course on 'Know Your Constitution'. In this course we are going to discuss some of the key aspects of Indian Constitution. Main moto of our course is to highlight the important areas of our constitution from where a large number of questions generally asked in various competitive examinations apart from this, we belief that every citizen of India should have some basic knowledge about our constitution. Keeping all these points in our mind we have designed this add-on course structure and syllabus.
Dear Students,
We the department of Political Science are going to organise an add on course on 'KNOW YOUR CONSTITUTION' from 1st April , 2024 onwards on both online and offline modes. The course designed on the basis of the requirements of cracking various competitive examinations and to have the essential knowledge of Indian Political system as the citizen of the largest democracy in the World. Time schedule of the classes is provided below.

1. Historical Background: Evolution of the Indian Constitution (2 Hours)
2.Preamble of the Constitution: Significance and components. (2 Hours)
3. Union and its Territory: (2 Hours)
4. Citizenship: (2 Hours)
5. Fundamental Rights (2 Hours)
6. Directive Principles of State Policy `(2 Hours)
7. Fundamental Duties (1 Hour)
8. Amendment of the Constitution (2 Hours)
9. Union Executive: (4 Hours)
a. President, Vice-President and their power and functions (2 Hours)
b. Prime Minister :Powers and functions.(2 Hour)
10. Legislature: Parliament of India: (4 Hours)
a. Structure and composition.(1 Hour)
b. Lok Sabha & Rajya Sabha, and their functions.(2 Hours)
c. Parliamentary committees. (1 Hour)
11. Local Government: (2 Hours)
Panchayat Raj Institutions (PRIs) and Urban Local Bodies
12. Judiciary: (4 Hours)
a. Structure of the Judiciary.(2 Hours)
b. Independence of the Judiciary. (1 Hour)
c. Judicial review and PIL (1 Hour)
