Shock is a serious condition caused by a sudden reduction in blood flow throughout the body. Shock can be caused by trauma, heat stroke, blood loss, allergic reactions, severe infections, poisoning, severe burns, or other causes. When a person goes into shock, the organs are not getting enough blood and oxygen. Left untreated, it can lead to permanent organ damage and even death.
The signs and symptoms of shock depend on the situation and may include:
cool sticky skin
pale or gray skin
A bluish tinge (or gray if you have dark skin) on your lips and nails
rapid pulse
fast breathing
nausea or vomiting
Pupil dilation
weakness or fatigue
dizziness or fainting
Changes in mental state or behavior, such as anxiety or restlessness
CALL 911 immediately
If possible lay the person down
If necessary, begin the cpr(depende if adult or children or infant)
Treat obvious injuries
Keep the person warm and comfortable as possible.
